Ordered a power commander.
I ordered a power commander from starcycle.com on monday, it's friday now and nothing yet as far as a shipping email. Do these need to be programmed before they ship out or what. Any ideas to why they have not sent me an email on shipping yet?
Thank you. |

I would call or send them an email. There is no setup required on the unit by the retail seller. The only setup required will be performed by you and involves the download of a custom map based on your bike configuration. How are they supposed to have shipped the item? (Ground, Air, etc.) Where is the retailer located in relation to you? Did you pay for shipping or was it free? If the shipping was free because you spent over a certain $ amount I would guess that it has shipped ground and will take a while.
Regards, Rollin |

I would not get worried about it yet. Some places will install a map on it before they ship but that is probably too late in your situation. That does not matter though because getting the map on there is no problem as long as you have a computer with a usb port. Hopefully you do not have a Mac. If you need help finding the right map let me know and I can point you in the right direction. Also you will probably need to do the 02 sensor block thing. Unless you got the "street" model.

Well I did not get free shipping. It was ground. I believe they are in Cali. But places usually send a email telling you they shipped it out with a tracking number. I did email them back a couple days ago using the email they send me for the reciept. Nothing in return as far as a email. I know Cali takes four days to ship to from here in South Dakota since I work in shipping. So I would be getting it soon if they would have shipped it already. I have no idea if they did is the thing because of no email. I believe it works with the 02 sensors, which I have on the bike still.

How would you do that, just cut them off at the wires underneeth and just leave some left just in case you have to wire them back on? I do have the commander on right now and it does not seem like its running bad. It has the map for stock intake, exhaust and 02 eliminators. Should I switch to zero map?

The way the stock setup is on the bike, it should overall (my humble opinion), run better with the O2 sensors in place. Now by run better I mean some more power but predominately the elimination of nearly all the RPM lag/sputter that occurs at random places along the gauge and gear range. My 2002 has Staintune's, K&N, and the PCIII USB w/ O2 eliminators. Runs great under the European maping for a Staintune setup. I went with the Euro map over the US one (both downloaded from the site) because I read somewhere that the US re-maps every 500 RPM vice every 250 RPM of the Euro map. Either way, there is more power and far smoother through the range. Much more linear, live V-bikes should be!

Do not just cut the wires. Follow the directions here. http://www.vfrdiscussion.com/forum/i...howtopic=20350
I heard the o2 sensors do not work well with the Power Commander 3. The street version of the power commander is made to work with the o2 sensors hooked up. Last edited by speedpoker; 09-06-2008 at 04:41 PM. |

You do not have to pull the sensors out. You can just leave them there.
