exhaust sound different from 05 to 06

A month ago i did a semi-gut on my vfr 06 exhaust, with dremel, holesaw. Sound is amazing i love it, amazing deep heavy sound. People are actually noticing me now.

My friend has a 05 vfr heard the sound and wanted the same mod. Yesterday we proceeded with the mod and once we finished we noticed the sound was not the same at all, it sounded good but not as deep like mine.

My question is WHY? is it possible, he has more miles on his bike then mine 4 times more or is it because the exhausts are different between the 05 and 06.

A possible explanation could be differences in the PAIR system on each bike, or maybe one has it disabled.
I just disabled mine, and now the exhaust (Leo Vinces, no baffles) is much quieter.
I guess its due to the lack of fuel being burned in the exhaust system because no air is being injected to burn it.
