Can I stroke my VF1000?
So I have a VF 1984 mod. if anyone has seen my post and my avatar, I had the second gear troubles. I had over the summer waited for parts from Holland's parts for main-shaft trans shims and forks. so I put it all back together. Worked OK for a week then the second gear started to jump out again , so this time around I found an Excellent race trans complete and the cases and heads are about to come off again. The bike Is in excellent condition with low mileage, now I was just wondering if there is a stroker kit out there and also any HP kits for her thanks to Toe , Jamie for their help I Will show more pics this time great group thanks all..Michael...

If you want more power just look for a vf 1000r motor with gear drive cams they make more hp. stock.

Oh, I see you're in Calgary. I'm from Whitecourt, 5 hours north of you.
Anyhow, The VF1000R motor isn't quite a "direct" fit into the "F" frame. From my reading, there is some massaging of the water pipes to be done, and the rear cylinder head cover can't be removed without dropping the engine, making valve checks/adjustments a big job. But yes, it can be done. If you're bent on increasing the displacement, an overbore would be far simpler than increasing the stroke. Basically, to stoke that bike, you'd be whittling a one-off crankshaft from billet. Falicon crankshafts could probably handle the job, but you'd pay more than the bike is worth in perfect running order. As for pistons, well, finding those could be tough, you might wind up using some other model (?) Honda pistons with a larger diameter and modifying them as required to fit. Not for the faint of heart, but possible. I've seen an early CBR600 Hurricane that was taken out to 695cc's by using stock CBR900 pistons. And I have no idea how far you can overbore a stock VF engine before things start to get thin around the water jackets. |

Stroking the VF1000 engines has been tried but the cranks have trouble with getting warped in the process. Falicon is the best folks for stroking cranks and they won't do it because of that.
If it's power you need, displacement is not necessary. You can make 140+ hp with cams, pistons and head porting. You'd probably have $3000-3500 in the engine when you were done. The bottom ends are not good for much more than that, by the way. |

To insert a 1000R engine in a 1000F frame you need to replace the left side upper frame section near the rear head so the head will clear the frame. Not a bad job but a bit of work nonetheless. you can see what is involved in doing this by clicking here.

Thanks guys. I was just curios as to what I could do . So I'll stay with the program of full strip down and remake the bike to the way I want it . Who knows it may turn out to be a Rat bike lol..
