How many miles does you bike have?
I've read all the reviews and know how reliable the VFR's are. I've heard of these bikes going +40k. Just wondering how many miles you have on your bike. My '04 only has 3400 miles.

I think you should be able to double your estimate easy. There is one fella I have heard of that's above 60k without a valve job so far (6th gen)... impressive none the least. I think with proper preventative maintenance she'll run for a long time. Even then, if your still are in love with your bike you can pick up a lower mileage engine and start again. The real question I think is, how long will parts be available? 20yrs...

More a case of how long will you last ? These VFRs of new are so Civic like, wouldn't surprise me in the slightest to see a 6th gen go 200,000
Mine just rolled over.. and not even a whimper of trouble. knock-knock ![]()

my 99VFR has 28,000 on it , no problems. My first 1983 VF750F had 52,000 very hard miles on it when I spun a bearing racing a FZ600 or was it a FZ750 back in 1988.

My 06 has 55,000 km or 34,000 miles. No problems what so ever on mine. Maintenance, maintenance, maintenance, And if that does not work for you try Regular maintenance. I have run synthetic ever since new and have the bike serviced every 5,000 km. I put on 25,000 km a year and expect to drive this one a few more years yet without trouble, except tires of course.

My 86 700 has 30K. It has more than enough power to scare me. It has a Fox remote rear shock and Supertrapps so I sure the previous owners didn't baby it.

My 5th gen had 116,000 & some change on it when I traded it for the 6th Gen.
The 6th gen that my daughter has now down in PHX, AZ. going to college last I spoke to her was 43,000 & some change. Had a VF500 that had 150,000 plus on it when I sold it & it's still running around in PHX. Daughter saw the guy @ a light & said my dad sold that to you when I was a baby (She's 18 now), & still had my old plate on it "SPEED 9". We are talking about Honda's & simply - they just last if you take care of them ![]()

I just turned 20,000 on my '03. I bought it last May with 2400 miles on it. Rude awakening!!! Now let me add these are mostly hard ridden miles. I'm now up to 4 track days on it and countless "touring track days" also
. She's taken a beating thus far without a hiccup minus the wiring harness issue.I might open it up this winter to check the valves, wheel bearings, etc. One thing I know it could use is steering head bearings.

My '00 will go though 108,000km in a week or so. My previous bike ('94 VFR750) had 150,000km on the clock when I wrote it off.
There are a few VFRs here in Australia that have done over 200,000km. And there was a courier in the U.K. with a 5th gen who did 440,000 miles on one engine, & another 400,000 miles with a second motor. |
