Just bought in to the VFR

Hi all and I can't wait for my new ride! A 2007 RWB non abs model I bought new tonight on eBay.

I currently have a 2006 SV 650S and just put it on Craigslist. I really like the SV but I seem to be on the highway quite a bit and the SV doesn't handle the higher speeds and wind quite as much as I would like.

I am sure a local friend of mine is also on this board and he said he was going to stab me in the throat if I bought this bike...I think he wanted it too.

Anyway...back to lurking and reading until I have to take a long drive to get it. I will search but maybe I can get in one free question with the new bike. Should I ship the bike home rather than ride it on the highway 300 miles since it is brand new? I am guessing yes.

Ride it. 300 miles is a good breaking in period. You'll have her all set by the time you get home. Having done 1400 miles this past weekend, 300 is nothing at all.

I agree about riding it home if you can. Just don't drone down the highway at the same RPM for 300 miles. If you can trust that the dealer will properly prep it for you, it sounds like a great way to get to know your new bike!

In 1995 I bought a new 1993 Nighthawk 750 and had a 20 mile ride home from the dealership. I ran out of gas on the way, and my chain was so loose I couldn't believe it.

Ride it! 300 miles is a great day ride. Plan ahead and try to stay off the interstate. You'll have a great time and really get to know you new bike.

I just talked to the dealer and they pulled it out of the crate march 27, 2009. The last 6 numbers of the vin are 900354..if that helps. I paid a little more than I wanted but I am pretty impulsive. It cost 8100 out the door with 0 miles on it. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and I can get it next Friday. Greyhound runs from here to there so hopefully I can survive that six hour ordeal.

Anyone need a clean 2006 SV650S?

Hi all.
I have hit 600 miles and have been adjusting the bike to my tastes.

Mods: double bubble, Pazzo shorties, Tech Spec pads, Throttlemeister, Pro gel grips, K&N, O2 senor disabled, snorkel removed, flapper disabled, CW fender removal, Staintunes w/o baffles and power Commander with custom tune.

The Dynojet stock tune was really good enough but I eeked out an extra hp/tq. My tuner was busy and trying to get me in and out fast so we didn't do a baseline dyno. My final max numbers were 101.14 HP and 55.07 Torque. Then as I was riding home I got hit by a massive thunderstorm and found out the VFR does nicely even when I went though pooled water that went over my boots.

I love the sound of the Staintunes! The VFR is all I have ever wanted in a bike.

OK I am not going to explain why but....drive it 30 miles and stop for lunch let the engine cool down ride home on secondary roads, by all means ride home.

Yup. I rode it home. It was soooo windy. I was glad that I was on the VFR and not the SV!

I am SOOOOOOOOOO jealous. I get my 2007 ABS RWB Saturday. it is Vin 046. Every hour I have to wait seems like a year. I also cannot sleep. it is like the last days before christmas when I was a little kid.

Since you are in KC, you are not that far from me. You might have to help me with some of the same mods if you are willing.

nice man , I'll be picking up my new '07 RWB in about a week, I can't wait. One question, how does that DB shield compare to the stock? that will be one of the first things I'll change out.
