    Hey dudes,
From Singapore here. Traded in my Blackbird for a spanking new 2008 VFR...

Last check in the singaporebikes.com Forums, there're no less than 44 VFR riders in S'pore. This does not include those who aren't in the Forum...

    Hi Guys,

I'm from Kuala Lumpur and have a 97 VFR750. Love the bike.....

To a question before, a water buffalo can be 4 to 5 times weight of my VFR. And you really don't want to crash into one...

    cheers

    congrats

i think this is one of the most international threads ive seen with so many differant country flags in the same thread.

    Awesome!:ncb:

now, while your all here, we have been having some discussion in the insiders forum about adding 'international flavour' to the next VFR world calender.

ive seen at least one pic on the front page of a VFR with an elephant so maybe one with a water buffalo too???
( preferably not crashed into it!)

any way give it some thought, the pics need to be high res and some thought given to composition, lighting etc helps.

as im from NZ i guess im looking at sheep to represent , not that exciting really, but i like a challenge!

    happy riding to all

    Richard,

Might take you up on that. Need to plan a ride sometime to a "kampung" (village) area or the east coast of malaysia, where i know more of them can be seen from the roadside.
Failing that, will try the KL zoo, if they allow me to take my bike in.....

    Dude,
How bout these pics from a "kampong" setting?

    BikePics - mirkhanus's 2008 Honda VFR 800 Home Page on BikePics.Com

These were taken during my twice-annual trip to my grandma's place in Bentong, Pahang. Planning to use the trunk East Coast road to Kuantan & snap some nice pics near Air Papan.

    A meet-up perhaps??

VFR Guy from South East Asia

Hi, just to add one more SEA country. I live in Thailand and ride a 2003 VFR. Got it just a few weeks ago and did already about 5K kilometers on it. Today I am lazy and don't want to waste hours to figure out how to add pics to the site but I have quite a few nice ones with buffalos, dogs, cows, nice country side, taken on my recent introductory tour through the north east of Thailand (Isaan). 3000 km in one week with a group of friends.
I have explored most of Thailand on different bikes and I can honestly say the VFR is the best bike I ever rode on long trips. Ok, the steering bearings were gone after the trip but the bike managed rather challenging roads without complaining. Here in Thailand riding is not about breaking the speed record but about being in control in tight situations. Going through tight bends and dodge pot holes, sometimes dogs and reckless pickups using your lane (oncoming). Avoid collisions with farm vehicles etc coming out of nowhere. The VFR was (is) stable like a tank and brakes hard even on bumpy/dirty tarmac. I was very impressed! For PS addicts the VFR may be boring but I found the acceleration is a;ways more than enough to outrun anything that tries to compete - luckily not too many CBRs or R1s around, in one week we did not see another 'big bike'. They exist but usually they are used for day trips around Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Pattaya. So the whole country is yours if you like the adventure. I can absolutely recommend a bike holiday in Thailand. There are areas with spectacular scenery and acceptable roads. The traffic (risk) is no real problem if you 'hold your horses'. And obviously the social side is great fun as Thai people are very welcoming and where ever you are you will enjoy yourselves.
I will try to post some pictures on the weekend.
    Axel

    Hi Sino, Hi Mirkhanus,
2 nation trip sounds good to me! So far I toured most of the North and North East of Thailand. (I skipped the south so far as it means a long trip from Bangkok before it gets more interesting, but it's still something I will do someday). Yesterday I went out with two friends for a short trip up to KaoYai (national park not far from Bangkok) and we extended it to a much wider circle and ended up riding 800km in 12 hours. Some of it fast but most of it dodging traffic. It was excellent and I am always enjoying the VFR. It was not my number one bike to get, that would have been the Blackbird but I never found one in Thailand. I had a list of bikes and it was a bit like playing the lottery waiting that one of them would come up for sale. The VFR came first and I bought it on the spot without really knowing much about the bike. But it was a good decision. The only thing nagging me is the sound or actually the lack of it. Last week I checked the exhaust threads on this site and got enough feedback to make up my mind to get an aftermarket exhaust. I ordered a Leo Vince and should have it in about 2 weeks. I really hope it will be money well spent. Does either of you have experience with aftermarket exhausts?
What about riding in Singapore? Are you doing all your riding there or are you riding into Malaysia? I am toying with the idea to spend a week or so riding in Malaysia. Would you have any recommendations? I would be grateful.
    Thanks and enjoy riding

hm, ok, I just looked at the pictures of your bikes and saw you have the factory exhausts. So you have more stable personalities.. And I read your threads and found you do ride into Malaysia. How is riding in Malaysia? Especially off the highways?

most of the Viffer in tis little red dot prefers Lazer... Leo vince available here too.. we have a very strict rule on after-market exhaust therefore not much of a choice here... for me, i m having a high mount GPR as mine was a 5th gen...

Msia highways is place for ppl to test their top speed, nothin much.. but its dangerous esp at nite.. some places might not have enuff lightings and slow moving lorries...

Off highways, it is more interesting... there are a couple of places wif all the twisties and corner and stuffs....
