Shoei TZ-R. A very quiet helmet that's ideal when combined with Autocom's in-helmet ear speakers and microphone. (The Autocom system is designed to allow the rider to wear 15-25 Db earplugs. The TZ-R works quite well with the Autocom headset and earplugs. Highly recommended.)

Wow. I have to ask. It must be one of three things. Are you really old? Is you riding style quite adventurous? Or do you just plain have too much money?
No offense Bud but with at least 10 helmets in the past, one wonders. Maybe you collect things.

LOL Pretty old: 59. I've been riding since about 1963 and have always worn a helmet. I usually replaced them when they started fitting too loosely IMO. I wore open face helmets until I bought my first Shoei which was a full face, in around '84 I suppose. I wear glasses so the flip-up helmets are a boon to me, and I've gotten very used to the integrated movable sun shield on the Schuberth's. And I've bought a few for girl friends and wives and such.

I've never had to replace a helmet, or any riding gear, because of an accident on my road bikes, just never had an accident on a road bike. Dirt bikes don't count. LOL If you don't crash on a dirt bike you're just not having enough fun. :)

Scorpion EXO 700 for around town and the 1000 for longer trips. The 1000 fits tighter and has less wind noise. I put the Pro Line windjammer II on both of them to quite them even more. I think it worked well but now am more likely to fog the 700 in the cool mornings.

[quote=FJ12rydertoo;126624]LOL Pretty old: 59.

So you are older than me. That's all that counts. I wear contacts when I am riding. And have a dark shield for my two helmets cause I can't stand wearing glasses underneath the helmet. They never feel like the are on right and that bugs the shit out of me.

When I have purchased my helmets, I had looked into the flip up face shield. Something I was warmed about is that the weakest point on that helmet is the pivot point for that visor. If you end up doing the belly flop on the pavement and that swing up shield breaks off, there is far less protection for your face. The helmets with the flip shield still have the chin portion of the helmet.

Having said that you have been riding and buying helmets since 1963. My first ride on a bike was late July 2006 so who the hell am I to be critical.

Ride safe Bro.

Arai RX7 (Randy Red)

Found this beauty brand new for $250. After riding in an HJC for two years, this thing is so much nicer, although I could never bring myself to pay retail for an Arai. I mean its higher quality then my old helmet but I can't justify paying 6 times as much for a helmet. I got real lucky finding this one

Several have mentioned they have purchased used helmets. I don't recall anyone saying where they find these used helmets. I assume at least some of them were bought somewhere on line. My question is: Is it not risky purchasing a helmet on line where you are unable to try it on for fit first? For that matter same holds true for new helmets on line.

The proper fit of a helmet, as has been said many times here, is vital for optimum protection. What happens if you buy on line and the fit is poor?

So that's two questions instead of one. Sue me !

I purchased my helmet online and had no problems. If it doesn't fit then return it. Most places have good return policies for helmet fitting. If the place doesn't have a great return policy, look elsewhere.

Got my Shoei on line after sending back a closeout AGV that did not fit right. I did try a Shoei at a local store before I ordered the second one, but saved $.

I have what some people would call a helmet addiction, but I prefer the Arai RX7 Corsair!
