It's true. Honda announced the 2014 VFR800 is coming to the US in May, along with the new CBR640F (the next generation F4i).

Unfortunately, the base is going to cost you $12,500 and if you want the traction control and ABS, it's going to cost you $13,500. For that price, I want my name tattooed on the forehead of Soichiro Honda's next great grand baby.

I like it… 12500-13500$ seems a little steep but I think itll do well here.

If the '014 VFR800 is USD $12,500 I shudder to think what it'll cost here, hopefully it'll drop a couple of grand in a few years when I'd be looking to buy one.

On the other hand the CBR650F looks like it'd be a good budget priced bike for new riders.

Looks like it has fake/cheapo forks with famous honda covers...Anywhoo, least it looks a little more svelt than the current viffer oot there. Cheers, How is Mick Do-INNN>?

I dunno what universe the sticker-shockers are living in, but a 2009 VFR with ABS retailed for about the same price as this one. Take into account inflation, and radical new features like traction control, and I'd say 13,500 is hardly an unexpected price. You can't judge the retail of a new bike based on the $2,500 4th gen you bought 10 years ago.

The price of the VFR is as expected, because I am sure it is built in Japan. However, the price of the CBR650, at $8500, makes me think it is built in Thailand along with CBR250 & CB500 series. Big jump from $8500 to $12,500.

Wished I was still working. I paid a lot more than that for my 06. Then again, this one in Canada will probably be much more too.

Looks like Canada only gets the deluxe model and it's $14,499. So with tax's and fright it ends up being $15,848. Not to bad overall. The 1200 is $17,400 for the FA and $18,999 for the DCT. A CBR600RR is $12,999. The Yamaha Fazer 8 is $10,099, The Suzuki GSX 1250 Touring is $12,300 (yes its a 1250cc but its the only sport touring bike Suzuki really has)And the Kawi's are around $13,000- $19,000 depending on what touring style you're looking at.

Can't see why the new bike would more expensive, unless their going with the same philosophy as the Europeans (BMW, Ducati & even Triumph). Make em expensive & some fucker will buy it because it has to be better? or just for bragging rights.
Long gone are the days when Hans or Udo would assemble bikes on a small production line, stop for a beer or vino at lunch & walk back to the village in the arvo singing the factories praises.
Methinks that the Honda's will come in at around the same price as before & besides it will certainly do no harm to the resale value our bikes.
That naked CBR640 certainly looks the goods, very tasty.

The biggest thing with the pricing is that the new 800 is about $1000 more across the board than the 2014 Ninja 1000, which is a direct competitor in every regard plus has around 20 hp on the VFR and standard TC. I'm hoping Honda gave their dealers some leeway to negotiate, because I can get a N1k with bags and all the electronics for about the price of a VFR Deluxe without the bags. Going to be a hell of a decision when it comes time to buy my next bike.

I am a little confused aboot the comments aboot the price being high. 2006-2007 was $12,999 at the local dealership back in the day. So the current asking price does not sound oot of line at all to me.

Perhaps it's not the pricing so much as it is the fact that BMW and Kawasaki both offer motorcycles that match or exceed the VFR's capabilities for significantly less. Yes, Honda does have the quality thing going, but then again, the BMW F800GT costs $700 less than the base '14 VFR with a better power-to-weight ratio and less required maintenance. I know I'm doing the sport-touring equivalent of bench racing here, but with the economy and overall wages the way they are, every advantage counts.
