1/4 Mile w/5th gen

I'm a member of a car club (100mphclub.com) and their 1/4 mile track rental was today. On a whim, I hopped on the bike to see what'd happen.

'twas quite a rush taking off on the that tacky surface and trying to keep the front wheel down. :)

Anyway, ended up running an 11.8 @ 114. Not too shabby...I said before I ran that I'd be happy if I could get it into the 11's...and I am. :)

wow, impressive. Just to be curious, what was your reaction time? And was the bike faster than the cars?

ran 3 times, and got progressively quicker & faster...

1st pass
0.2351 - RT
2.1152 - 60'
5.2383 - 330'
7.8367 - 1/8th
94.16 - 1/8th mph
10.1448 - 1000 ft
105.53 - 1000 ft mph
12.1183 - 1/4 ET
111.55 - 1/4 MPH

2nd pass
0.1375 - RT
1.9889 - 60'
5.1156 - 330'
7.7194 - 1/8 ET
94.16 - 1/8 MPH
10.0338 - 1000ft
104.92 - 1000ft mph
12.0161 - 1/4 ET
112.78 - 1/4 MPH

3rd Pass
0.3329 - RT
1.9563 - 60'
5.0487 - 330'
7.6382 - 1/8 ET
94.62 - 1/8 MPH
9.9342 - 1000ft
105.83 - 1000ft mph
11.8984 - 1/4 ET
114.04 - 1/4 MPH

There were a couple of faster cars there, but they wouldn't let cars/bikes race each other.

At the end a guy on a Kawasaki 636 wanted to race, so I raced him. After the 1/8th I was winning by 3 seconds, so I let off and ran a 13.22 at 72mph. lol Felt bad for the guy. He ended up running a 14.88 at 106...with a horrible start, and a mis shift.

If that's a good time, makes me feel better about my time I just ran tonight. First time ever at the track, best run was a 12.03 on my 92 vfr. I will be back.

I ran 12.2's - 12.4's on my old 4th gen. One of these days I'll get the 5th gen for a few passes.

check your chain to see how much it stretched doing all those launches.

It's a brand new RK chain...has about 1000 miles on it, and I didn't really do any "launching" as you can tell by my 60' times. lol

I've only run the VFR on the 1/4 once. My best was 11.23 @ 121.7MPH.

VFR's were not made to drag race so I see no reason to do so again.

KC-10 FE out...

Same here...I won't go back, just curious of what she'd do....and I know she'd go faster, but I had no desire to launch her really hard.

That's pretty damn good KC - close to what the moto rags report.

I'd like to run mine for 3 or 4 passes and then I'm done. I like to run every "new" bike I get just a couple times to see what it will do. Then I'm done till the next bike.

Look at the 60-80 and the 80-100 times if you really want to be sad...

Interesting that the 60-80 is slower than the 80-100 on the '98 vfr.
