41 mpg over 4,500 miles. Best was 46.6 and worst was 34.8. I keep pretty good records on gas, not so much for the economy but just to keep an eye on things. Progressively worsening gas mileage is a pretty good indicator something is going wrong somewhere.

I agree... Since my bike is fairly fresh I was planning on logging most of my mileage via a computer program or something. Along with a quick one liner of my type of riding. It will be fun and like you said will show the bikes health to some degree.

Once... if the thread picks up I will start compiling the results in the first post to make it easier to read for all.

Between 35-40 mpg...I expect this to get worse in the very hot Montana summer weather.

I ride pretty mellow, mostly below the VTEC engagement. I'm running a PCIII with a semi custom map, stock cans, stock air filter.

    Before PowerCommander installation: 40-43
    After PowerCommander installation: 34-38

My first tank of fuel this season went slightly over 230 mi. Filled up 4.7 gal. 48 mpg range. Ambient air temps ranging from the low 30's to low 40's. I'm fairly aggressive rider but I really work on being smooth!

There is a couple of threads on this already, but since this is in the 6th Gen forum, rock on. Besides, their is no good oil threads to argue over right now.

Had my 04 a little over a year and a half and put 12K on her so far. Average mileage 39 - 85% commuting and 15% f'ing around in the mountains. Heavy rider (240 w/o gear), fairly aggressive, commute in heavy traffic. High of 45 on the slab, low of 30 with a broke Tstat.

Ya, I saw the other threads but they were a bit helter skelter with mixed gen results. I thought it would be cool if we were a bit more organized.

You guys make me proud... didn't think there were so many closet mileage trackers out there.

I never really bother to figure gas milage - in my head once it was high 30s.
I mostly just use a trip meter for total milage per tank.

Before PC - 175 to 200 miles, once in a while a bit lower.
After PC - maybe 150 to 175. It did drop.
    - You know what? I dont care - its riding.

I'll admit if I get out to the backroads - I'm not a stranger to redline.

I've got 22,000 miles worth of gas mileage in an Excel spreadsheet for my V-Strom. Every gallon I've put in it since I bought it. When I got the VFR I just added a separate page to the workbook for it.

It's interesting to see trends. When I increased the front sprocket size on my V-Strom I saw an immediate increase in gas mileage. When they start selling the cheesy "Winter Blend" gas I see an immediate drop, and when they quit blending it in the spring I see things go back up again.

Just for kicks and giggles: Suzuki DL-650 V-Strom over 21,919 miles. Average MPG: 51.22 mpg. Best MPG: 59.90. Worst MPG: 40.88.

    Jeff,

Sounds like there may be something wrong here. I don't know how many k I put on the other day but when I got back to Chilliwack, I still had two bars on the guage. And I started from Chilliwack on just a tad shy of a full tank. I worked mine pretty hard on that ride. What a blast though.

    Jason.

Sorry we missed Suday. I will try to start keeping a tab. I already do this with a fleet of 17. Albeit, most of them are ...... GASP!!!! Tauruses.

Ya ride was blast for sure have to do it it again soon, when you left ride we continued on hit sumas mnt hard and back roads of langley as well dint get back to ridge until around 5
i think i might be low on those mileage figures dug up some gas receipts. burned 18 liters over 132 miles thats 31mils to imperial gal and 27 to us gal assuming my math is right 3.7 liters to us gal and 4.2 to imperial gal (now i know why we went to metric system) most fills are around 17 liters and get 150 miles
so if my math is right thats 33miles per us gal or 38 to imperial gal
    does that sound about right?

sorry JS if i screwed up the average..... and now my head hurts

This thread is now got me thinking about fuel economy on my bike. Never thought I would be thinking that after driving the flag ship GMC Sierra Duramax to and from work before getting the bike. Funny, the more we save, the cheaper we get. Think my ancestry is peeking out here. Time here for a wee nip now laddie.

Where's that beer thread got to.

The first 20,000 miles I usualy get between 40 to 42 mpg, After 20K I only get 36 to 38 mpg. Most of my ride on the hiway, My average speed is between 75 mph to 85 mph. Temperature between 30°F to 80°F depend on the season. Does any one have any suggestion or solution.

Assuming you haven't changed anything like gearing or exhaust, I'd check the normal stuff. Look at your air filter, check your plugs, and make sure you don't have a brake dragging excessively. Tires and tire air pressure can also affect mileage.
