I have a 02 that died on me. Had it towed in for the wire harness recall. Dealer told me after checking and replacing the harness that it still did not start. Said I needed a new fuel pump. ($600) My question is has anyone every heard of the fuel pump going bad on an 02 with 26K on it? I think I am getting riped off.

Fuel pump went out on my FZR1000 at 30k. It was noticeable beforehand to me, because of when I turned on the key, it would kinda stumble and chug though. I got stranded out somewhere, well, almost, it started working ONE more time to get me home.

For 600 bones I'd trouble shoot it myself. If it is bad it looks pretty simple to replace.

EDIT - A new fuel pump assembly @ Ron Ayers is a little over $300.
