Yes im new, but just picked up 2 bikes, 1 parts and 1 almost running

    i just got my self a 1983 vfr750 and a 1984 vfr750(parts)

ill take some pictures of the 83 tonight

    - plans are too completely strip the 83 down to frame(have it sandblasted and powdercoated)

    - rework the body work, needs some fiberglass repairs. Im going to look for some 1000 side covers, and have them painted to my choice of colour.

    - Rims im going to clean up and make them look new, and mount some new rubber on them.

    - im going maybe redo the top end, and look into possibly having a bottome rebuild, all seals are hopefully going to be redone on the motor, Ill look at the clutch while its all apart, and think about replacing it

-clean up the wiring, as the last owner, made some splices that need to be repaired.

    - forks need new seals, but thats minor

    timeline, who knows

i need some parts, some are harded than others, the starter was from a different bike, the previous owner reversed the polarity of the starter to have it work but hes not positive the starter works properly

but ill be sure to keep people up to date on this project.

i do own an 08 kawi zx6r for future reference in case u see it in the background of pictures

ABS Plastic vs. Fiberglass ... Clutch ...

    Hello:

    Welcome to the Discussion Group.

    A couple of thoughts:

First, the VFR fairings are ABS plastic. Fiberglass repairs don't stick very well over time. There is a ThreeBond repair kit, which works fairly well:

    Also, I LOVE this product:
    PLASTEX Plastic Repair Kits

There is also a TAP product - a great ABS repair "glue":
    IPS Weld-On 2354: TAP Plastics

As to the clutch, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Barnett clutch kits:

    Good luck with the restoraton.
