Ok so i just got my first bike. i dont know where to start. The bike was obviously laid on its side very hard. see the pics and let me you know what you think. i am not using the bike as a speed demon or stunter, just something to learn on and hone skills. any information that i may need would be great. i have rode bike in the past but not a lot. i have raced mountain bike and trials preformed. so for sure balance and control is going to be different, but i am eager to try something new.

    Thanks Chris,

Did it run before you tore in to it? Engine compression? How many miles (km's)? Body work is rare to find. Check eBay for clutch covers and the clutch basket. Is the frame straight, forks? Lots to check over...good luck.

Wow, you got a lot of work ahead of you! Start with the basics. Compression test, Carb clean (do not seperate them) There are a few good posts on carb cleaning here. Scour the net and see what you can find for parts.

I am in Edmonton, if you are ever stuck with anything. Back in the day, they sold alot of VF1000F's here in Alberta. You'll be able to either find the parts you need, or even a whole nother parts bike for cheap! You even have another person willing to help! Do you collect 750's as well?

Hi Chris: Just to let you know from another way, but one that you also love. Chris just lost his wife. I have purchased a bike from this man...he is someone who truly knows these bikes inside and out...so I will act as a reference for his kindness, extreme competence and quality of work. I hope that you do not mind my posting this on the site Chris....but, a loss is a loss. Take care.
