    This engine is the brain child of the same crew that is developing the US Joint Light Tactical Vehicle.

    "Pratt & Miller Engineering’s 20 year history of success in motorsports was a determining factor in this partnership with Motus Motorcycles. Pratt & Miller Engineering has won numerous championships in the American Le Mans Series, Rolex Grand-Am series, NASCAR and six 24 hours of Le Mans victories in the GT1 category. In addition to motorsports, Pratt and Miller Engineering has played a prominent role in automotive, commercial, aerospace, and defense projects such as unmanned vehicles and the new Joint Light Tactical Vehicle."

    This bike is intended to be out there in 2011. Direct injected V4, thoughtfullly desighned, powerfull bike.... Still long for Shamu?

    Little things like this bother me (right off the website);

    "Named the KMV4, the engine is an advanced, high performance powertrain designed for Motus MST motorcycles."

    The engine is the ENGINE; it is not the entire powertrain... Silly, I know, but it still bugs me. I wonder if Pratt& Miller are descendants of "Pratt & Whitney" and "Miller" of Offenhauser fame?

    Regardless of my minor distractions, it could be an interesting bike.

    Perhaps with Eric becoming recently unemployed he could show Motus how to put some fuel in the frame. Shit, for that matter maybe he could show Honda how to put some fuel in the frame.

    Lots of hype here. First direct injected v4? Not really. Take a look at Evinrude boat motors. One I know of is a 2-stroke out-board motor with 130 hp (direct injection) EvinrudeE-TEC 130 1.7L V4 . I've read about the Motus in two major cycling mags. Lots of coverage for what amounts to some 3D CAD renderings. What does the Motus have that an ST1300 doesn't? Oh, I know, it wil cost $30K+. Confederate motors is not known for cost effective bikes. All that said, I still wish them luck.

    Nope. Pratt & Miller Engineering & Fabrication was founded in 1989 by Gary Pratt and Jim Miller

    That's pretty interesting, I got to say I'll be amazed if this even makes production. They got a real uphill battle with all the competition as well as the crappy economy to contend with.

    I read that on their website; I should have phrased the question differently. I was wondering if the two guys were the children or grandchildren. Not that it matters at all; just a passing curiosity.

    I didn't realize that this was a spinoff(?) of Confederate. It's got to be killng them to use mufflers...

    I went back through my stack'o mags, and Motorcyclist Feb 2010 had a brief write up on them. One of the things that I found interesting is that they are going to use a camshaft located in the "V" portion of the engine, with push rods and rocker arms, and two valves per cylinder. Now THAT's American! :biggrin:

    I agree. It has always bugged me that we are completely capable of producing high quality motorcycles, but never quite seem to get around to it except in the cruiser department. Like everything, perhaps there just isn't enough of a market to make it economically feasible to pursue.

    Looks like this thing is one step closer to being reality. I think the engine looks awesome. The bad part is I think this is going to be in the $25000 range. That's a shame since the bike is VERY intriguing.

    KC-10 FE out...
