    What in the hell?

OK, so the adventure bike thing is pretty big. I just don't see the VFR being the appropriate platform.
I know one member here turned his into an adventure style bike just cuz he felt like it.

Maybe Honda had a ton of 6th gen engines sitting around and needed to find some way to use them?

Why even call it a VFR?

Drewl's random thoughts for the day.

    OOOH looky! http://www.cycleworld.com/motorcycl...onda_crossrunner_and_crosstourer_-_first_look

It looks just like that BMW one!(second pic in link) I bet that guy from star wars already has one.

Swing and a Miss!! I absolutely LOVE my 6th gen but if I had a choice between an adventure bike with Vtech or without I would choose without. I can't believe they brought Vtech back. I think the overwhelming consensus was that Vtech was a neat little trick but overall a flop. The only possible saving grace of this machine will be honda reliability and low cost. But I predict Honda will be asking WAY too much for this bike. Has anyone heard a possible MSRP? I'm predicting $11,995.00...Back to the drawing board...

I would hate to slip up on a dirt road on a behemoth like that.

So people complained about the V-tech kicking in while cornering on pavement and Honda thought it would be a good idea to put it in a bike that will see time on dirt?

I believe Honda people where capes and crowns in there crystal palace and believe all buyers will buy what they make because they are HONDA.

The new Ninja 1000 is looking better and better.

Rats, was looking forward to KTM like Crossover looks like Honda is giving us a better quality higher priced Suzuki DL clone.

Not sure Honda engineers will call it a VFR but then Marketing might step in, if they do would you allow their owners to live on this site ?

It's not ugly... I think they had a lot more VFR800's sitting around than anyone thought so they hacked them up and made an "adventure tourer" with them. I bet most of the bike could be easily swapped with 6th Gen parts.

On a side note; why no high mount pipe on a bike that supposed to go off road?

It seems its trying to compete with the new ducati multistrada... which as we all know, simply isn't going to happen. Sorry Honda. Adventure bikes should have twins (R1200GS, KTM 990 Adventure, Duc Multistrada, Yamaha Super Tenere, Suzuki Vstrom, etc.) Nice to see they are trying new ideas though.

Someone needs to point out to me where Honda called it a VFR or said it could go off-road.

If Honda was going to produce a lighter weight "standard" version of the VFR800ABS with an upright seating position and dirtbike bars you wouldn't be interested? Isn't that exactly what this is?

This is just a new package for the VFR800, and I think it makes a lot of sense. It's a natural evolution for the platform, considering the types of bikes that are selling well globally. The VFR had a good run but there isn't a market for that style of bike anymore. Just look at the new 2007s rotting in showrooms with enormous discounts.

    http://vfrworld.com/forums/general-vfr-discussions/32937-vfr800-back-albeit-bit-taller.html

click that link and scroll down and look at the picture.
crap it is on a dirt road / trail ( little narrow to really be called a road )
I am NOT calling it a VFR or a off road bike, it seems Honda might be a bit misleading w/ the pictures.
it is a redesigned VFR no doubt, it even has the vtec engine, the 6th gen wieghs in at around 550lbs and I dont see them shaving that much wieght off of the crossrunner.
again if honda made the 6th gen with 50lbs less wieght and added say 50 more HP it would fly off the show room floor while the 7th gen sits idle.
the 07's sit cause Honda did not make any updates to the 6th gen.

phobe, don't take it the wrong way.
    I'm just busting your chops.
to be honest w/ you if Honda built this bike w/ a 400cc V-4 or even a 600cc ( puts out more HP then the 800 )
and the bike weighed in at around 400lbs I would buy it.

for most who own the 6th gen w/ the lower pegs and the taller bars, you would think that this would be the bike they are lusting for. hmmm but it doesn't seem to be the case, as for me, I want to raise my pegs and add clip ons to compliment the 19mm tail riser and raised forks on my bike.

That "dirt" road is something i wouldn't think twice of riding down on my viffer. Not exactly off road terrain right there.

it would not take too long for some squid to try terrain alittle harder.
it is again based on a 6th gen, low speed manuvering sucks on a 6th gen and this thing looks to have a higher center of gravity then the 6th gen wich will amplify the slow speed handling woes.
once again if this bike weighs in at 540+ pounds its not gonna handle that well on a nice dirt road

Amen...Adventure tourers? its like all the SUVs you see with the kangaroo bash guards and fog lights and all the other crap you can bolt to one of those piles. Read "posers" The biggest off road obstical they are gona hazard will be when they drive on the grass to the local wine tasting. Now excuse me my quiche is gettin cold. :Peace:
