We are sweating on the news as to whether or not my wife will be made redundant this week. If she is then sadly the CR will have to go although I may be able to keep the NC700X as this is much cheaper to run.
This is really disapointing as We only stayed on at work after retiring age to pay for the bikes and trips away. If I have to sell both it will be the first time in 49 years that I have been without a bike

Sucks, I've stared down that barrel before (& jumped to early) & sold the bike. So wait until the last before you sell. Take into account the depreciation & creaming your going to take if you have to sell.
    Wish you good luck.

Thanks guys I will keep you updated. Even if the wortst happens we intend to keep the bikes until the end of the summer (if it ever starts) and at least go on the biking holiday we planned. We missed our holiday last year due to sue being in hospital so we have no intention of doing so again this year

Hang in there lad. I was there a few years back, had to downsize and empty out my bike barn. Sold 3 80's V-4's (one each Sabre, Magna, and Interceptor) and my '04 Triumph - simply because I had no place to put them. My recommendation is to get out from under any payments/debt, find a bike or two you can pay cash for, and move forward.

Thankfully all the bikes are paid for but with only one wage coming in running them may be a problem

wow. that sucks. it must cost more to run a bike there. over here once you have paid it off it's quite a bit cheaper. I believe the insurance even is less on a paid off bike. Gas just dropped below $4/gal again. Been a while since I've seen that here in the central Ca coast.

    Good luck to you.

Fuel alone is far more expensive here. A litre is around £1.35 which equates to $7.94 a US gallon. No reduction in insurance for paid off bikes. I believe that both gas for heating the home and electric are more expensive here. In fact the general cost of living is much higher. My new daughter in law who has recently come out of the US Army says that she can not believe how much things cost here

Great news![/B] Sue has just been informed that whilst some of her colleges have been made redundant her job is safe for time being so the bikes stay

Thank you. This has made us appreciate the bikes even more so we intend to get in as many trips as possible. In fact we are leaving for a weekend in dorset this morning
