Be nice if they actually did sell for $2500. I'd have two.

Starting with a blank sheet of paper and highlighted by a V-4 engine and optional dual-clutch automatic transmission, Big Red calls this machine a future look into for their two-wheeled brand. Can you say: V-4 powered CBR sportbike? Who knows, but it sure makes my glands salivate. For now, here’s a look at the details on the 2010 VFR.

I bought my '99 with 18,000 miles 3 or 4 years ago for $1500.00 on Dec. 7th (pearl harbor day). I found it on C.L., called and asked how many times it had been

dropped, and the guy said it had never been down. Had a friend drive me to the location, took all my cold weather gear, bought it on the spot. When we 1st saw it

my buddy whispered "buy it before he changes his mind" as it was perfect. Guy said he priced it low so it would sell fast, and he could have some Christmas money.

Rode it home as it started to snow. Love the thing and have never looked back, It's now my very favorite of my 3!

I bought my '98 in Dallas in November 2011. My first ride on it was 525 miles back to New Orleans where I was living at the time, having not ridden since a crash a month prior and having not seen the bike before actually picking it up. During the course of that ride, I endured insane crosswinds, dropped the bike, had it die on me due to an undiagnosed blown R/R (surprise), and rode most of the way with a zip-tied brake lever. I've ridden it over 25,000 miles through rain, sun, and snow in the three-ish years since then, and I can't get enough of it. Having ridden 3rd-, 4th-, 5th-, and 6th-gens, I can firmly say this one's the best of all of them.

After owning my '09 for two years and setting it up as my commuter/tourer, I thought I'd look into another VFR just for "play". My immediate choice was a 5 Gen. I found an '01 in decent shape, a few scratches and a couple of fixable panel cracks in the fairing, but nothing major, so I bought it. Gave it a Daugherty Motorsports suspension upgrade and have been very happy ever since.

Although I cannot say I prefer one VFR over the other, as I use them for different purposes and the both fulfill their roles very well and I always hop off either bike with a smile. However, the 5 Gen seems to draw more attention from other riders, former VFR owners or not, plus since it's intention is for "play", play time usually trumps work (commuting), I do feel more satisfied hopping off the 5 Gen.

Funny thing, after my last ride through my nearby National Park twisties after being followed for a time I was eventually passed by a nice sounding Buell 1125R, when pulling up next to him at the Red light at the parks end said to him " nice sounding bike " to which he surprised me with his immediate reply " not as nice as your VFR ".
