    Hi Guys,

So I have finally started my Cafe racer project. I want to use the Vf 750 F because I like the engine and the soound. Furthermore I haven't yet seen a cafe racer build from this bike. :) I will post as project comes along.

For now I have gotten an 18" wheel from a CB 900 Bol' dor to match the rear. They will both be powder coated black. I think the frame will also become black. I haven't decided tank and rear seat color yet. I will chage the rear shock and install progressive springs in fthe ront. Then the bike needs to be lower.

Electronics will get a make over. Remove all unnessesary and simplify.

I want to remove the standard rear sets and find something nicer. Anyone have any suggestions? Rest sete that match from another bike?

Started to take paint of tank. Used Nitromors, but didn't suceed with that. Instead of removing the rest of the paint it has started to corrod the tank. I just ordered 10kg's of natron and going to try with soda blasting.

I would talk to a suspension pro before doing progressive front springs. My experience in the past was there was excessive fork dive under braking because of the soft initial spring rate. Single spring rate worked better for me.

    Thanks John,

I have asked Jamie Daugherty to do my suspension. So it's all in his hands. As far as I have read, I don't think he uses progressive springs.

Works Performance sells dual and triple rate fork springs for a shitload of bikes. Gold valving at least on some Honda V4 bikes use single rate springs.

I have my doubts that Works Performance or Senor Jamie would steer anyone wrong.

WP has a PDF for the specific lookups.

The main fraction of Nitromors is Methylene Chloride. A minor fraction is ethanol. Honda factory paint is good stuff and hard to remove. What may be happening is the first you might be better off using a paint remover of the gel type , apply the stuff as thckly as you can and let the chemistry do the work. The oxidation (corrosion??) is natural and may be partially caused by the ethanol fraction. Ethanol is hygroscopic. (likes water) and IMO the water may be causing the oxidation moreso than the other solvent and waxes in the stripper media.

    Nasty stuff. Be careful.

I wouldn't handle, breathe, store or use that crap EVER !! Whatever it does you can find something less ultra-toxic to do the job. Or maybe have to use sandpaper ? And how are you going to dispose of the used material since your garage could become a Superfund decontamination site ?? It causes cancer, man !!

Your in good hands with JD, he was good to talk with and I'm really happy with what he did with just my stock suspension.

Yeah, not really going down that road again. Reason for not sanding was that I wanted the raw metal look, but going for a painted tank now.

Ordered loads of parts. Just waiting for them to arrive.

I think the layout under the tank will look something like this. Just not sure about the fuel pump sitting there. Maybe too hot?
