Here is an alternative to a volt meter, smaller, brighter and easier to see:

    The warningindications are as follows:
Green, lightcharging fine, The window is about 13.2 to 14.8 volts.
Green and redalternating is over voltage (over 15.2 for a standard battery monitor and 15.0volts for a Shorai battery monitor, not good)
Amber, (bikerunning) hook up a voltmeter on your bike and see what's happening with itrunning.
Red or red flashingmeans your bike is probably not running and you have your lights on, or if yourbike is running there is trouble in paradise and you need to take action not toget stranded.

Easily removed from plastic case and mounted directly to bike.

It could be just me but I hate "idiot lights". I replaced them with gauges in cars, and have no desire to go back to them on my bike. I like the gauge because I can see what's going on. I mean I can see the, kind of, good points, but I'll take the info over the simple alert.

I agree, but not a lot of room for gauges on VFR.[IMG]
This is my dash, voltage monitor on left, fan indicator on right (I have a manual switch on my fan) and gear indicator in center.

Mine is just a tiny LED to the left of the cluster. It's easy to see but a bit bright at night.

That's a pretty big charging window. By the time the voltage of the VFR is down to 13.2V, the charging system is probably pretty much done. Riders with voltmeters have reported only a few tenths drop in voltage indicated some impending failure.

Only problem with mine is I like watching what it is doing all the time instead of watching where I'm going :tickled_pink:

Mine cost about $30CDN on ebay but came with the panel mount flange and a combined 3.1A charging capacity USB socket. The meter is impossible to read in the sunlight where I have it mounted...so be mindful where you place whatever meter you purchase.

At www.ebay.com you will find all kinds of volt meters.

Here is the KOSO LED Super Slim Voltmeter Vifferrob bought ($21.50). And the waterproof voltmeter I bought ($3.50). Don't know if it's any good, not mounted yet because I really don't want to make a hole anywhere on my bike. I also have a KOSO volt meter, no hole needed, just some double sided tape.

    Thanks for the links!
    Ordering up one today.
Boosh...THANKS for the heads up. Your install looks slick and clean, but I see what you are saying about it being unreadable in the sun.
    Cheers
