Should the leather section of the seat be treated? If so with what and how often?
In most cases I haven't treated other leather products and find they last and wear fine.
    Appreciate your thoughts, thanks much.

Leather is just skin, so any lotion would work. If your looking for a cleaner/conditioner with waterproofing (this does not mean it wont get wet) then I suggest finding a leathersmith or a cobbler and see if they have any lexol leather conditioner. If you dont mind the color changing then saddle soap works too but it tends to dry out the leather.
