and just run open pipe, will the FI map handle it ? Will the exhaust valves/seats burn ? ?

Currently have Two Bros 'Racing' slip on ... K & N air filter . Not loud enough, and I'm feeling feisty .

Probably not, but you'll instantly achieve D-bag status with anyone sharing the road with you

Or since you're from the south the VFR exhaust might invoke a NAASCARRR! Response and drivers will suddenly turn left in front of you.

But does really sound wonderful. I did it once, but it's just way too loud/obnoxious to ride in public.

Yeah, I can gut out the baffle and packing from my old kerker can in about 2 minutes. It does sound awesome. Like a snarling Hemi 'cuda with blown out magnaflows

Give it a try!! You will whup ass on the harleydoods who save lives by having loud pipes. The lives you will save uncorking a VFR, could well be in the thousands. Make sure there are no noise restrictions in your hood or neighbors with shotguns. The premise here is not women and children first when its your ass on the line.

BTW the sound is not particularly like a NASCAR rig but more like a GP or Indy car.

When I purchased the slip-on for my 2000 VFR, I tried taking the bike for a short rip around the block. Since my bike was at my shop at the time, the block as it were, meant going past a few car dealers and mechanical shops, so I didn't wake any sleeping children. It was REALLY LOUD (very cool sounding, but really loud ), and honestly it didn't seem to run very well especially after 4000 rpm. Even if it ran perfectly I don't think you'd be able to live with the noise generated for more than a block anyhow. With ear plugs in it was still too loud, so I can't imagine how many sales staff I deafened as I roared past the Jaguar dealer.

Dunno what you guys are on about - not loud at all, sounds a bit better, sharper, but not obnoxious, and runs better at city popo approved speeds .... dunno about fun speeds yet .

But dayum, what a hack job on the 2bros install, it didn't even seem to fit, was loose mid-pipe at cat connection, dremeled, mounting bolt noob-jam-tight ... and the can is just a straight thru pipe, with some packing, like the old cherry bombs - people pay money for this crap ?

Anyways, I think the cat muffles it enough, and Buell had the right idea imho, put all the exhaust crap/mass down low underneath.

Gonna fab just an angle out pipe to get it away from the tire/wheel and let that be it.

A PO had 'repaired' the cut muffler by putting a plain steel cap on it, which worked fine until it blew off last week. I felt sorry for everyone I had to ride near that day, scrounged up some stainless and stainless rod to fix it, and closed that hellacious bitch up that same night. Sounded 'cool', but it was just too cool. As in ungodly loud. I get enough wind noise, I don't need my bike competing with it while I'm just cruising.
