My son has been riding street and dirt for about 4 years now, has a YZ 125 for MX and a DRZ 400SM for street. He has logged about 13,000 miles on it. I really like that bike, I feel like a hooligan ready to get in trouble ever time I ride it. So Sunday I let him ride the VFR and I got my CBR back to street legal and we went off riding in the country through sugar cane farms. He rode very well especially for his first time on a big bike. He loved the sound and power. After the ride he said he needs more cc's. lol I let him have it for this week and I think there may be a new VFR owner in the future.

That's awesome! My dad and I make a pretty ragtag pair on the road..... He's been a Harley guy since the dawn of time. Bought one in the 60s and hasn't ridden anything but one random Indian since. Those are two sweet looking bikes.

I was outside washing the bike after we had a family dinner at Boston Pizza, and I went inside to grab a large microfibre towel that I use for drying the bikes I come back out to the newest sight. My son is sitting on the bike making vroooooooooom, vrooooooooooom, vroooooooom noises as he pulls in the clutch and pretends to switch gears on the bike. The bike was sitting on the center stand and my daughter Chantal was sitting behind my son Liam and hanging on really tight. Liam said to Chantal, "Hey Sis, let's ride to Calgary (Alberta) and visit uncle Dougie." More vroooooooooom noises insued along with some leaning to the side as they went around corners. I snuck upstairs and called down my wife and we both watched the shenanigans from the corner of the garage where they could not see us. It was soooooooooooo cool to watch The kids pretending to ride. LOVED EVERY MINUTE....

All Liam needs is about 10 years of vroooooooming experience and some lessons and he can get his license. He is after all only 7, but he is dying to get to try the front seat on the VFR.

Great memories Zoom. I have a few good ones like that.

LOL BB, no he just turned 23. He rode it to work all week. Then today I'm at a gun show and who shows up, yep my son on the VFR grinning ear to ear. He is really liking it.

    Lol BB, I hope not.

My hope is that he will stick to the track for the need for speed and enjoy a nice spot touring machine for the roads. I see so many young kids buy a 600 or even 1k sport bike and go ultra squid on city streets.

My hope is that you get your bike back... ;) If your son is riding competition he might well be a safe street rider or pick his spots to gas it.

You may have to start looking for a second one now, seeing as how your son may be hooked. LOL

Just about bought a 6th gen a few weeks ago that had been vandalized out in front of a guys house. The sides had been keyed and the bike kicked over. Owner was willing to sell for dirt cheap since he was moving overseas. When I went to look at it, the guy started it up and it sounded like the engine had a horrific knock and really loud. At $1000 it was cheap for sure (a 2003 with 70,000 km's) but it would have needed some new fairings and a full paint job, not to mention some engine work. I had to decline, but still looking if I can find a good one locally.
