Having a problem with my 2003 vfr non abs.
After the fuel gets below a quarter tank, and the bike gets hot enough to kick the fan on it emits gas fumes. I've replaced the intercooler pressure cap to help with over heating issues recently, but it still makes the smell if it gets hot enough.

Yeah I have that smell too, but not sure when fuel is low, but for sure when engine is hot. The mech guy says it's the heated air that bring upwards the gas smell from the vent hose. Don't know if that's true but no issue with bike operation.

I'd be concerned if the fan kicking on causes you to smell raw gas.
I'd suggest propping up the tank and taking off the air box while the engine is hot and searching for a fuel leak. I'd be surprised if gas is dripping from the vent line onto the ground but that's an easy first check. When the tank is not full it's hard to imagine fuel coming out of the vent line but maybe the gas cap is goofed up and it's pushing gas into the vent all the time.

Since the stock fan blades draw air in from left side and pressurize cavity in front of engine, what I think you are smelling are fumes from vent coming up between tank and dash. If you smelled it all the time, then I think you would have a leak.
