I was talking to a mate last week while enjoying a coffee at a known bike road stop.
He mentioned that there is a local photographer that haunts this road taking pictures of bikes in action, then posts them on his web page for sale.
When I got back home I went on the interweb to search, and sure enough, I found a picture of myself.
I thought it was pretty good, so I bought it.
Now resides on the wall in my office. Reminds me of what I'm missing out on.

Yes sir Mr Oz.....there are at least 4-5 guys doing this in San Diego County. They are on the same corner usually too. Just like the ones they nabbed of me on Saturday.

There are two photographers that frequent the Malibu area, one hangs at the infamous corner on 'The Snake' and the other close to the beging of Mulholland and Malibu Canyon Rd. Most of the videos you see on YouTube from rnickymouse are at the top of 'The Snake' and the Rock Store Photos photographer will shoot pics there in the afternoon and a few curves before that in the mornings. I've actually got my picture taken twice in one day fom both locations but normally its one corner or the other.

When you got these images, did you also get a piece of "smarten up pie" too. Hope there was not too much damage to the bike. You are expendable. The bike is sacred.

In Diegoland it typically costs $20 (or more) for one .jpeg image emailed to you. Printed photos (based on size) are typically more.

Pretty much inline with what Stuka said, for the Rock Store photographers in Malibu their digital downloads vary from $10-$30 depending on resolution. You can also buy hard copy pictures in various sizes 4x6, 5x7, Poster size etc.

Here's a shot of me on my last ride up in the 'BU'

For us here they range from $5 to $15.
They seem to vary according to megapixels.

Only pics I ever get taken are usually delivered by mail with a piece of paper saying that I owe the government a few hundred dollars

For an overview of who owns the images see 'photographers rights" on Google. Generally the photographer owns the images.

For those wanting to just download an image especially for printing, JPEGs are "lossy" with each viewing. Much better to ask for TIFF files. Both can be downloaded onto a portable file device and machine prints can be made at places like Walmart, Costco ect. The print prices depend on the size. An 8X10 is generally aboot five bucks a pop.

If the photographer is shooting in RAW he or she will be able to choose the file type. Some DSLRs shoot in both RAW and JPEG at the same time.

Actual copyright of pix can be very expensive and is not done much. The legal stuff is intent to copyright.

For those shooting pix. There is a PDF disclaimer on line by Portland attorney Bert Krages.
