Sitting here thinking of a song that would fit him now. To the tune of Frosty the Snowman.

Frosty the Squirrelman lives in Buffalo
With a corncob pipe and a button nose
and two eyes that look like piss holes
He was made of shit but the children
know how he came to life one day
There must have been some magic in that
    old helmet they found
For when they placed it on his head
    he began to screw around
    Oh Frosty the Squirrelman
was alive as he could be
And the neighbors say he could bitch and moan
and complain just the same as Huckabee
    Thumpetty thump thump
    thumpety thump thump

Oh well that's about all I can think of. He'll be fine. It's not his first snow storm of Buffalo. They always get dumped on. I wonder if he has any snowmobiles? Though 7+ foot of snow in a couple of days is just amazing! He'll be digging out for weeks.

I think you can be confident the squirrels will be fine - they have figured out how to create a nice cosy nest inside a VFR! As for the VFR owner well..

Yeah, i'm fine, thanks fellas ! Snow bands were narrow and concentrated and missed my area entirely. Got only 5" of snow here, but just 4 or 5 miles south or east the total so far is 5'-7' !! Driving ban over most of the area for 4 days now, and essential foods like milk, bread, beer are almost gone in stores until truck deliveries can be resumed. It's bad in general but i'm OK until i run out of beer.......

At least i have my two furry friends for company. BTW: the prairie dog (Cheeky) sleeps alongside me every night and INSISTS upon it !! (Electric blanket, ya know !!)

Good to hear you are not entombed in snow. Igloo style with no door. Almost worthy of trying to hibernate. That was one hell of a lot of snow you got there, or nearby Sq. I've seen drifting snow lime that, but not that much or a straight dump. You gotta take care of your roof first and foremost. Doesn't have to be cleaned to the surface but get some of that shit off there.

I learned real quick being from Cali NOT to buy a house (UT) facing north. I would have these big ass icicles hanging off the corners of my second story. ...in the daytime they would drip on my driveway and then turn into a sheet of ice.....wifey.cracked tail bone. Randy...how long are your winter's?

They run from fall all the way to spring. Jk. Here in the Vancouver area, we don't get what I would consider winter. Snows just occasionally and it is gone in a day or two. We did get a 24 bour dump back in '96 that left us with about 3 or 4 feet of snow on the ground. Had difficulty getting around even in my Suburban patrol vehicle. But we are cool and very wet for about 6-7 months of the year. Cold and wet = miserable.

We have those here too. Just not as prevalent as you. Except maybe the threat of flood. I am below sea level at a very high tide here. Salt water backs up into the Vedder Canal from the Fraser River here at times. We are protected by dikes and pumps. We were under threat of the dikes breaking a few years back and I evacuated the bike and fifth wheel to higher ground so that I would have a place to live and transportation should that happen.

Google Sumas Lake. I live on that drained lake bottom.

BTW. Icicles from your roof likely means you do not have proper insulation and ventilation in your attic. Or your down spouts are clogged. You don't want one of those falling off and hitting you on the head.

duccmann: your attic should be the same temp as it is outside. Either you have not got enough insulation, or not enough air flow, or both, you need intake and exhaust vents to get rid of the heat. The insulation keeps the heat in the house where it belongs. Us Canadians are well versed on these types of things. Except the Chilliwack types, where its like another Country! (Lucky guys!)

Interesting about the bands of snow and pretty much missing you. Funny how the news isn't broadcasting that tidbit....
