    Hey Guys and Gals

I just bought my a 84 VF 500 for a winter project. Ive starting breaking down to the frame so i can clean everything. it was looking pretty rough and had been siting for about 12 years. Im having the carbs cleaned as we speak. And this forum has been a great resourse for problems to watch out for.

As you can see i have the fairing off and would like to keep it that way. But i would like to change the headlight and possible move the gauge cluster. Has anyone made change like this and run into major problems?

i only paid 300 bucks for the bike(first owner-his failed project to recapture youth) and im willing to put some into it but dont want to open pandoras box.

Thanks, Ill post more pics as i progress

If you were thinking of removing the front fairing and headlight for a street fighter(ish) type look there are a couple of good examples of street fighter style conversions. Here are a couple links to a few street fighter style builds, though most are newer bikes, that you might find useful for inspiration and ideas.

These are just a couple of examples of Street Fighter style builds that I have run across in the last while and might give you some ideas as to type of Headligths you might be able to use or type of gauge cluster to maybe replace the stock unit if you wanted to go that route.

My personal favorite as far as Street Fighter builds is the following one. Having seen this bike in real life and talked with the builder it is truly a nice machine.
