Ok, so I am NOT a mechanic, so I apologize if this is a stupid question.

I came across a 5th gen for sale. The owner removed the muffler for a louder sound. He kept the exhaust, so I can reinstall it, but I wanted to know if the removal could have harmed the motor. I don't know much about motors, exhausts, and back pressure, but is this perfectly fine, or do I need to be concerned?

    Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!

I personally don't know how he could stand it that loud!

....highly unlikely it caused any damage....

If i was your neighbor I would rape you with the muffler you took off. After I heated it up white hot of course.

Hey now, save the rape for AFTER I buy it...or just leave it out completely. I don't care what you do to the seller who took it off in the first place. SMDH

The cat provides enough back pressure to keep it from going too lean

Even if it doesn't hurt the engine (burned exhaust valves?) it will destroy your hearing and create a poor impression of Honda motorcycles and their riders.

Anyone who would ride without a muffler must have serious cycle-logical problems.

Well, it looks like I will be passing on the muffler-less 5th gen (even though he had the stock muffler). It seemed to be stored outside, and he was not as flexible on price as he made it seem. Might have another 6th gen coming home soon, though ;) I have owned both gens before, and will be happy to own either again.

No top box. I was considering adding a top box and backrest pad, but the Corbin seat backrest is the cheaper option (and probably more comfortable).
