I am going to Oregon for my Birthday week next month. I can't think of a better way to spend the week than riding on my VFR. My friend who also has a VFR is going with me, he just put the painted blue hard bags on his 2012. I will take another photo of our bikes touring ready together when we leave. This will be my first long trip on VFR and I can't wait.

I would highly advise if there is no pillion moving your pack to the seat, keeping the weight on or in front of the rear axle. Doing this will keep more weight on the front tire and provide better handling. Putting the pack on your seat may also drop the height of the pack too. Additionally I am not sure what type of mounting bracket that you have but just looking at the photo there is a lot of pressure on and it could break. Keep the bracket on and turn the pack around and slide it over the bracket but have it rest on the seat.

I think you need a red microwave too, plug into bikes electricity , get a 12v version. That way you can heat up food. makes sure you bring coin for trolls.:rain:

I was in Oregon last year, nice roads there. If I were you, I'd make it a point not to miss avenue of the giants, or Newton B Drury scenic pkwy. But if you ride CA 36 from Fortuna to Red Bluff, you'll be rewarded with a great road and great views.

There are a lot of great roads in Oregon and you could spend many weeks riding them. I have us3ed this site a bit for trip planning but I am sure there are others as well.

Be sure to shoot up McKenzie highway up to the pass if you find yourself in the area.

Thanks for all the well wishes. I think I will turn the bag around to sit on the back seat. I use motorcycleroads.com also. I have been told lots about the good roads in Oregon, so I planning out our week there.

Sorry I never posted how our trip went. Well it was a great 8 days of riding and we did 2,800 miles round trip in that time. My friend and I had a wonderful time. Now I am planning what I am going to do this summer.

Yes it was a great time. We went to all the scenic spots of Oregon we could do. We stopped by McArthur Burney Falls on the way after spending the first night of the trip in Windsor, CA. After my photo fun at the falls, we made it up to Klamath, OR which was our base for the trip. After that we went to Creator Lake, Butte Falls, sea lions cave along the coast, and a nice park in I found in a quaint little town. In between we hit a lot of back roads to have some twisty fun, no cops so we enjoyed the roads.
