No thanks, the U.S. Version has been severely neutered! It only goes to 9400 RPM with 101HP and no Performance Kit will be available here in the states. Then again, if I had the money to afford it, these short comings could easily be overcome with a nice healthy bribe!

    Might order a couple.
One to ride the other to store.
    Sure the wife won't mind.

Not so sure, GMH out here about 10 years ago built about 200 I think, a special race car copy, they were dubbed "bumbelbees" because they only came in yellow with black boot wing, black wheels and black interior. I think they cost about 100k each which at the time was big dollars. Only ever saw a couple on the road and I would think that these days if you could find one for sale it would probably have a million dollar price tag on it

I find this very hard to believe. There is no reason - legal, commercial, practical - that Honda would do something like this. Based on personal experience, I've found scenarios like these that lack any explanatory rationale usually wind up playing out much closer to how one would expect. I think this bike is going to roll off the floor topping 200 HP, in the States or anywhere else. Otherwise, why build it? And more importantly, why buy it?

I just researched it. The U.S. model cut backs are all smog-driven. ANy race tech whose brain still functions could have the U.S. model up to the 14k RPM race specs in no time. My guess is that the reduction is entirely digital, and that ECU flash is all that would ultimately be required, along with the race kit that any fool can buy in EU and ship to their buddy here.

That being said, I agree with OOTV, it is pretty stupid that they gutted it here. Most likely the real culprit is California's emission standards.

If you're wanting a high performance V4, this is a sad fact...
What I find ironic, for years Honda has been racing the V4 in MotoGP, yet they only offer us the CBR as their flagship sport bike?! When they finally offer us something we would die for, they make it so far out of reach that it ridiculous! What's even more hilarious, Aprilia, BMW, Ducati, Kawasaki and Yamaha all have bikes with way motor horse power and track ready performance handling, all within a reasonable price. The Yamaha R1M looks like it's got a lot to offer and with the Cross Plane crank, it has that V4 sound!

This is a link of a shootout that Motorcyclist Magazine did on a few liter class bikes. Ironically here, the Kawasaki didn't fare too well, yet they are killing it in WSBK. Well at least Jonathan Rae is!

I read that article a couple of days ago. Tired of waiting on Honda so when I get things sorted financially, this is probably going to be my next high performance ride. I will still keep my fifth gen because with the Sargent seat I can ride it all day long. It's a great street bike and nothing will make it not a great street bike.

No thank you! I never liked the CBR. Considering that even the new CBR is still lacking compared to the other manufacturer offerings, they'd have to pay me to take it!

I actually like the CBR 1000, but given the competition it's a hard pill to swallow for me. It is in serious need of an update and a power boost. It's the only flagship sportbike that is still "analog". The most advanced thing it has going for it is ABS.

In Japan it will have 70 bhp. And as cool as it looks it is a pale imitation of the real thing. No pneumatic valves, no seamless transmission. On the other hand please offer us a version of that 1000cc V4, give us a VFR model and a rocketbike version, oh lets call it a RVF........thanks.

Like it or not, racebikes and factory bikes made of unobtanium sell motorcycles whether it suits our fancies or fantasies or not. HD invented that a hundred years ago..
