Engine will bump start. But when using the starter switch, the starter does not seem to disengage and engine will not start. So have to turn off then bump start. Ideas?

    Thanks!

    What bike ??

Most likely a sticking START switch. Try some lube and working the button in and out.

86 VFR 750 F Heard these had sticking starter problems? What is the solution? Are replacement parts available? Thanks for the info!

No, don't agree that sticking starter switches are at all common on our bikes. Crashes, tip-overs, dirt in the mechanism are the common causes. Open switch carefully and lube parts that move.

OK not the switch. How about the relay? Issues with these?

It IS the switch. Relays never cause your problem.

Broken pivot point the START button moves on or
    weak or broken return spring.

You have to wonder, even if the starter is not disengaging, why is the bike not starting?

If you don't think that it's the switch, try bypassing it, to see what happens.

If you want a new switch I'm pretty sure I still have the one from my part out. Let me know.
