VFR FI shocker replacement.

    Hi guys, I'm new on here and on bikes too. I was wondering if I should just get my 1998 VFR's shockers reconditioned or just get a whole new unit. I was really trying to keep the cost down if at all possible as I'm moving house soon and I'm kinda looking to do everything on a certain budget.

    nasty monoshock off the bike.jpg I went for a new one, although the condition of the OEM one was so bad I had no choice. I opted for a Hagon which was a shade under £300. I've read opinions about them on here and other forums and as far as I'm concerned it's been an excellent replacement; certainly much better than the standard fitment on the bike. If money is no object, obviously go for something exotic, but I'd recommend the Hagon all day long.

    ++++++ to this comment. I just recently installed some of Hagon's Twin Shocks on my wife's new CB400T. The cost was reasonable and the staff was very helpful when I phoned to ask a few questions about what type of shock they would recommend in their product line. Installed the new Hagon units last night and took the CB for a ride and WOW what a difference. From date of order to date of delivery was less than 2 weeks. Very Impressed with Hagon overall.

    Hey ZZ. What year CB400T? That was going to be my first bike in 1980 but I went with the Yamaha RD400 instead. My pals had the Honda. Great machine. I still love the looks...sorry to hi-jack. I get excited...

    She's a 1981 CB400T Hawk with a little over 24000 km's. The bike had spent the last 20 or so years outside the previous owners house under a tarp, rarely seeing use but a few times per year. My first bike was a 1984 CB450 Nighthawk so it brings back a lot of fond memories. My apologies to the OP for the thread jack as well.

    Standard shocks are generally crap and a one size fits all bodge job.
    Anything will be an improvement but it's the best investment you can make. Service the swing arm and stub axle bearings as well as the linkage...and while you're at it try some 0.9kg linear springs (if you're around 15 stone) and 5wt quality fork oil.
