I'm doing the North Cascades loop tomorrow. Not sure if I'm up for it- physically. We'll see. 400+ miles.
I'll blog it and take pics. Wish me luck.

    Good luck and have fun.

It is 47°F and raining here. That might just be it for riding season :(

Cool ride! Highway 20 to Winthrop can be nippy in the AM and on the other side the temps drop hard in that desert. 400 miles of "spririted" riding in that country can be tiring.. Be careful..

A tip..If you get nailed by a stater you have the right to request that you go to trial in a court where you reside. Otherwise they will have court in a county seat like Chelan, fine you bigtime and If you request a trial they do shit like schedule in the middle of the fucking winter for a chicken shit ticket. In the Summer and Fall on the major highways the stater rookies get moved around. They also hide . Them moving is sometimes a benefit and they will not show for trial and you walk.. no matter what the prosecuters would like you to believe .

If you get tired, there are a couple of motels in Twisp that are well kept and not too pricy..

Many many absolutely great ride routes in Washington and Oregon. We do that area every second weekend in September. Rode through Twisp and lunched in Winthdop this year. Been doing this for I think 5 or 6 years running. Have yet had the pleasure of exchangon plentries with our friend in Concrete. But have seen him often.

Well that wasn't so bad. Temp up and down all the way to Winthrop, 37-43.

    Breaks: 3 for 45 minutes. Net ride time: 7hrs, 45mins. Total 8 1/2. Miles 366.
Time includes the extra 25 minutes to go the 10 miles between Goldbar and Sultan.
Traffic there really started to suck about 10 years ago.

Not going to blog it, forgot my effin camera...

Nice ride, one of my favorite areas. Been through Concrete a bunch of time. All in cages unfortunately.

I would suggest you could rent a Harley but I think it's better I didn't.

That hangup is from a traffic light they put in years ago that was a move more by the local CofC than for safety.

We used to bypass all that by going through Arlington and Darrington then doubling back a mile or so to Concrete to gas up, catch a break, have a short meeting about "our buddy" there and what the leg to Winthrop is like.

Kind of nippy at 37F adding windchill at 55-75 or so could be problematic unless bundled up some.

Still a great ride! For the folks who may not ever ride this one, Highway 20 in that part of Washington takes ya trough what is officially designated wilderness.

I'd ride a Harley. Anything with 2 wheels is fun. Wonder what my fellow Hardly riders would think of me in full leathers, full face helmet, gauntlet gloves and boots on. Probably try and punt me off a cliff. But then again I would be dragging hard parts way ahead of them.

I hear there are four lengths of those at the Harley stores. Short-Medium-Long and Self Flagellation.

    "Rocking Tassels" lol

I think next time I'll take Blewett Pass to Ellensberg to Fall City down 203 to Monroe. It'll avoid the frustration (had to pull over and have a smoke in Sultan) and add 75 miles but Blewett's a good ride too. Would miss Tumwater. Maybe break it in two and go drinking in Chelan with a hotel stay.

Developed a charity ride in aboot 2000 using all three passes. Starting in Carnation and ending up in Snoqualmie. The first iteration was a little nuts. It was for a prize but the prize was for the best time. I used gas station receipts for time hack proof. We modified it to run like a sort of European Rallye for "average" time. The other thing was not real good for most riders.

It's still going through SoundRider and now done in Oregon.. The pesos left over went to The Shriners Childrens Hospital.

I have been hiking and climbing in a lot of the mountains accessible from 20. Have any of you taken dual sport bikes back into any of the areas off 20? I have been down some incredible dirt roads in stunning wilderness. Doing some camping and hiking in that area on a bike off road would be wonderful.
