Starting to make a chain oiler. Starting with chunk of about 1/4" aluminum, walbro 668 carb, carb nipple from rebuild kit

Going to make a bracket to fit these tab things on the inside of the turn signal bracket.

    Or rather, did make.

Tapped holes to mount the carb top and primer. Broke my 4-40 on a test hole but had some M3's handy.

Am now locating a hole for the nipple.

Nipple pressed in. Ran a drill bit in reverse from the other side to widen the protruding bit. It was already super tight but that will for sure keep it secure.

Probably done for tonight; it's cold out in the garage.

Ha, had my own version a few years back on my CB750. Consisted of oil reservoir using the factory rear brake rez, lined to a vacuum fuel petcock (from an 80-81 CB fueltank), so oil only flowed when motor was running. Then piped to a plastic fitting, drilled at no more than .010"/.25mm and placed directly behind the front sprocket, dripping onto the lower run. I used either 90wt, or 120/140wt depending on ambient temps. Worked great but I got very tired of cleaning the crap off the left side of the rear wheel, even so it never seemed to get on the tire itself. I still have all the parts, can't bring myself to toss that engineering exercise for some reason!

I'm slipping; zero black paint on hand! I did however have a can of duplicolour "match" paint for my truck and it is pretty close to the Honda blue.

Sprayed it after sanding the surface with 200 grit on an orbital sander.

The metallic paint gives it sort of an anodized look.

Blocked pulse port to keep vacuum and oil from leaking out. Basic 3 minute 2 part epoxy.

Tell me how pretty my nails are... TELL ME HOW PRETTY THEY ARE!!!

The part of the carb I used is ~identical to any 26cc(ish) motor. Weed whackers, blowers, gas powered skateboards. New they are about $4 so even then not going to break the bank.

If buying new though I would get a universal one and drill a single 1/2" through hole. Just like the "$60 chain oiler" thread that inspired me.

Press fit the brackets together. There is NO WAY it is coming off but I put a couple speed nuts for good measure.

So you're following along here thinking "Damn. This is pretty decent looking. I'm impressed with his skills." And you would be spot on.

I would put more than one pic per post but I cannot get them in the right order with tapatalk. Plus I'm padding my post count. Go ahead, infract me.

So this is the reservoir for Mr. Lube 500.

Put an o-ring around the threads of the bottle. I had one in the lid but it was too thick and kept the lid from grabbing enough threads to seal. Next made a couple holes for grommets and slid in some fuel line. The aluminum coupler is a one way valve used as a breather and the other side will feed the primer bulb. Put a heavy clunker on the feed tube to keep it at the bottom of the bottle.

    Haha!

Well close. I was thinking "damn if he gets this wrong, he'll have a permanent

hockey-rink simulator for the left side of the rear tire"

    And I would be ballpark-ish.

I missed the first time, just noticed you appear to have a ChengShin there.

So the hockey-rink simulator was already in place, you seriously better not get a drop on that! :eek:nthego:

All pseudo-snobbery aside, looks like it'll work alright

Although now that you mention the hockey rink I might shift that delivery tube further up the guard past the tire.

Or maybe solder up a decent spigot and attach it to the swing arm. Hmmm... V2.0 perhaps.

Now I focus on the rest of the little things like stuck cables and rusty tank.

the only thing I can think of is isn't easy to just carry a small can of chain oil and hit the chain when you stop-it might just throw the oil all over the place.?:heh:
