Motobatt for a battery. DID, RK, Regina are all quality chains. JT sprockets are very good although their own brand chains apparently aren't great...so I hear, could be wrong!

^^^ I agree with all of that. I've been running Motobatt batteries, no complaints from me, likewise the RK or DID chains.

I'm in line with everyone else with chain and sprockets but I went with a shorai battery. My last regina chain and sprocket kit lasted 40k miles. For chain maintenance get an automatic oiler like pro- oiler and a rag to wipe the chain from time to time.

For a battery, and by saying this lets hope Murphy ain't around, if and when, I'm going with one of those new lithium ones, small and light. On chains yep I'm a OEM guy when it comes to sprockets, yes DID or RK is cool.

Motobatt, DID and OEM spockets, especially the front one. It has a rubber vibration dampner that aftermarkets do not.

I end up got Motobatt and RK package. This is my first doing it, how hard is it? Does it require any special tools?

Yes you'll need the spanner to loosen the chain slack. Should be with the tool kit that comes with the bike and a Chain Breaker & Riveting Tool. Its not hard just take your time and watch some how to videos. Oh and don't accidentally hit your clutch lever after you take the front sprocket cover off lol

First you should go and Youtube a couple of how to's for chain replacement to give you an idea of the procedure, not very complicated. When I changed mine I rented this tool from the below link. It is the best chain tool you can get, the price covers ship to and back. You can use a grinder or dremel to grind off a pin head which then makes it easy to press out. You will need a torque wrench. You should also get a digital caliper tool to measure the pin head spread when you press on the master link, the specs should be in the RK package. Don't go for a clip on link, they are unreliable.

If you do not have a service manual below is the link to download one from VFRD. Make an account if needed.

Front don't look the same and want to make sure it's correct. It's thinner than original. Part said fits vfr800 2007.

I'm a day late and a dollar short, on this thread.

Shorai Battery. Saved my ass once. I have 6 of them, various ages. I never had a problem with any of them. I replaced the 5 year old Shorai that was in the KTM Super DuKe. Super Dukes are notorious for destroying batteries. I gave that battery to a friend who put it in his Honda Rubicon, with a wench. It's still going strong.

DID Gold chain. I got the Motion Pro tool. Changed out the rusty old stocker on the Interceptor. It was actually kind of fun. The new gold chain looks about 1000X better.

Good luck, Tony. Tell us how it went.

I've been running nothing but RK xring or wxring for a few years now. DID is fine too.

I normally run DID, but in less than a year, the price went up more than $65 ... WTF??

    I just ordered an EK 530MVXZ (Quadra-X Ring Chain). Hopefully, I haven't made a $65 mistake.

51 N-m or 38 ft-lb is specified in the service manual.
