The post title pretty much sums it up. I first saw one of these bikes when it arrived at the Honda dealer in 1983 and I wanted it BAD!! I finally bought a 1983 VF750F yesterday! Closed the deal at $3,000 cash. I'm the 3rd owner. Original owner bought it when he was in his early 40s, second owner is in his 50s, I'm 56 so it's never been thrashed! Came with the original tool kit, owners manual, work shop manual, a bra for the chin fairing, stock seat and the Corbin seat pictured. Runs OK but needs some carb work. P.O. pulled the carbs to clean them and I'm guessing he got the jets, emulsion tubes and springs mixed up as it runs a bit rough at low revs. It could also use a valve adjustment. It cruises at 70 mph just fine. Drove it 98 miles home, 20 of it in a rain storm, wearing a full rain suit, at night! :)

First order of business is to pull the valve covers and inspect the cams, valve adjustment and replace the valve cover gaskets. An oil change couldn't hurt with the new filter supplied. After that I'll inspect the carbs and get them synced. First mod will be an external oil line kit, the good one that supplies filtered oil to the cams.

    Here's a pic. She's a beauty!

Just my opinion but get rid of that horrible fairing covering the engine. Get it back to stock and show off that lovely V4 motor.

Looks nice. I'm 50/50 on the fairing. I think we need more pics tho.

Price seems a little steep to me. What's the mileage on it?

Welcome and congratulations! I have had one since 83. Bought my first one new in 83, bought a replacement in 85 after a mishap. Yours looks pristine, mine sat for a long time in my garage, then last summer sort of restored what I could. I don't know if you will find an oil kit unless it's used. I run an Lockhart Oil Cooler which I got in 84, and the same Corbin seat! Partzilla.com has all the OEM gaskets, o-rings and seals. I replaced just about everything rubber due to age.
Great old bike, fun to work on. Got any questions, let me know.

Not the stock paint scheme, but an 83.
Your side panels look like they are easily removable, when I bought the new tank (and rest of body work), I got a full fairing that included the chin fairing, didn't use it.

12,807. I think I did well considering the condition and that I'm the third owner.

Thanks! I've been buying parts for my 73 CB750K3 that I just restored and for my 85 VF700S Sabre from hondapartsdirect.com: http://www.hondaparts-direct.com/oempartfinder.htm#/Honda
    Cheaper than Partzilla. :)

You got a great start with the low mileage, sounds like you have the process under control. I kick myself for letting sit so long.

LOL better late than never ,good going. Like some have said, kick those faring sides to the curb, or at the least hang em on the garage wall for art.

I dig the side fairings, and the price doesn't seem bad for the condition and rare parts you got with it.

Did a little googling and found this oil mod kit, but i'm sure there are others with better info http://www.honda-v4.com/sabmag/v4honda/oilmod-dd.html

My only request is for more pics. Hopefully some out in the wild somewhere with you enjoying it :p

Nice ride! I have my second one now, as well. Bought an 85 model in 1987, as a non-current. Then two years or so ago, bought another 85 that needs some work. Was recently reading how an oiling kit was not the problem. Seems that it was a combination of factors. My bike has 4500 k.m.'s on it right now, and I can already see the pits in the cam lobes. They suggest to send to Megacycle for a special hardening procedure of the rocker arms and cams.

Love the full fairing, good looking and unique. Considering that all the later generations have exactly that your full fairing '83 was ahead of its time.

Far as I can tell he isn't selling it currently so no need to argue on the price. Things are worth someone is willing to pay for them, as the saying goes.
