    Shoei:

    Worth every penny.

Son #2 was riding a Ninja 250, when the front tire de-beaded. Tank-slapped him off the bike, near 70MPH on I-75. The helmet took some abuse. Zero noggin damage. Lucky all over, actually, just a minor bone fracture in one wrist. Proper jacket and gloves saved his skin, but the jeans he was wearing didn't. (Chose not to wear Joe Rocket pants, still hanging in the closet.)

    Shoei all the way.
I have a RF-1100, 2 years old. Son #1 just got a new RF-1200. It was his helmet that younger brother was wearing at the time.....

Awesome. Congrats! Shoei helmets always fit me well and feel really comfortable. Other than my recent Shuberth purchases, I've only owned Shoei helmets before that.

My Arai gave me a headache yesterday with all the wind noise. My x12 is quiet, shield removal is the shizzle

I have been looking for a neotec for about a month. I just can't find one for a decent price. $600 is just too much! I agree that they are comfy in the extreme though!

I keep wanting to try out a Shoei, as they seem like great helmets but...nothing...and I mean *nothing* in my life has ever fit me as well as an Arai big-round-head helmet (changes name, used to be quantum). It's like 10 really smart engineers in Japan measured my head in my sleep and figured out the perfect helmet size for me. They're even a little too tight when they are new, but after a few weeks? Perfection...

Aria now has gone more oval, It was this that had me look at em. As I too am a Shoei head. but Shoei this time around doesn't have what I'm looking for, betwen sizes and didn't care for the graphics, so tried the new Corsair X ,,,, Wa-la

Wow, I could have written that. I bought my first modular helmet, the Shoei Synchrotech back when they first came out, had to have been back in the 80's. I had Shoei's until I saw the Schuberth with the flip down sunshield and had to have one. Before the Shoei I bought Bell half-helmets, which actually came in hat sizes. I wore a 6 1/8 I think.

I've since gone to an AGV modular since I feel the amount of money for a Schuberth or Shoei is too much for me to pay. I'd love to have one and when they get down to a reasonable price I probably will. I've seen the Schuberth for $500 so they're getting there.

Close outs are your friend. They had them (C3) for as low as $399 just before it was replaced by the C3-Pro. What turned me onto the Schuberth was the noise level ratings. They seem to be the only one that states them. At the time I bought my C3, I was wearing a Shoei RF-1100 and although it had awesome ventilation, that made it very noisy, even with ear plugs. Not only did I want a quieter helmet but also a modular, the rest as they say, is history. I have since replaced the C3 with the Pro.

In all honesty, if the Neo-tech was around when I bought my C3, I probably wouldn't have even thought twice and grabbed the Shoei. In hindsight, I'm glad I did buy the Schuberth, as its been my go to helmet for all but my sportiest rides. For those rides I wear my GT-Air, which is almost essentially the full face version of the Neo-tech.

I have an RF-12 and its fantastic.

I also added the Transitions visor to it (just like glasses, clear in dark, then tints itself when the sun shines) - what an amazing upgrade! I ride into work in the dark and home in the day so it saves shield swapping... cost a bit but well worth it IMO.

Bit the bullet and picked up my first Shoei GT-Air at the beginning of this riding season. Vastly superior to the Scorpion and HJC helmets I've worn in the past. The build quality, fit and quietness are apparent as soon as you go for a ride. Take a little time to break in but all helmets do. Have it paired with a Sena 20s. Wearing ear plugs with this setup is nearly perfect. Quiet, good ventilation, built in sunglasses, excellent sounds quality for music, the ear plugs block out allot of the wind noise yet you can hear music and make phone calls, no problem. Most people don't even realize they're talking to me on the bike.

    Congrats on the new lid.

Well I got lucky and snagged a Shoei Neotec for $300! Bad news is that it is Big Bird yellow. Would have prefered silver or white, but my cheap ass couldn't pass up the price.

For those not lucky enough to find a great deal on the Neotech like Marriedman, Motorcycle gear now has the Shoei Qwest Banner helmet for a $341 closeout special.

If you're not familiar with the Qwest, its Shoei's touring helmet. Here's a link: Shoei Qwest Banner Closeout
