Yea in my wonder and after a few WT#! moments, I learn from seeing the tach face is different between 98-99 and 00-01, go figure. As this is one of the little pet peeves I have, it's the font that was used, I don't care for it. but figure Oh well the rest of the VFR is great less the lcd screen there on the dash. No biggie right? Ha, now I see I have an options here, Yippie, I need something to do anyway, so if anyone knows of a good 2nd addition 5th gen tach, please let me know, so far in the last month none have shown up on ebay. In that Thanks

Yet another reason that my beloved G5 2nd add, is the greatest...... in my feeble little mind at least.

I've always wondered if the tach is even accurate? Does the bike really rev that high? The (pre SpeedoHealer) speedometer was lying to me, why not the tach? My ambient temp gauge is way off/broken (at the moment).

I see no reason to believe the tach reads incorrect. Now the speed-o yea. in fact i know mine reads 5mph fast. reading that a speedo healer sorta fixes it, but at a cost to the odometer now will be off , so i leave the speed-o alone, though at times it bugs me too. what's ya going to do. ;)

Nice Zoom Zoom, thanks, I'll have to look into this more, and wow what a thread topic there, it's good read for sure. Gets me almost rethinking to get a whole 00-01 assembly, there seems to be a lot there that could go wrong if one wasn't very very careful. I've done a few auto instrument lighting and gauge faces, so didn't think this would be any different, but then I haven't worked with a Honda product like this either. Nice , this gives me something to ponder while I heal up, thanks.

I remember talking with vfrKat a couple times and he said that getting the needles off was the hardest part but that it wasn't quite as bad as he thought. He noted in the thread I think that when he went to put the gauges back on to power them up and then pressing the needles back in place. If you left the speedo alone and only changed the tach face you'd only have to change one gauge but it would change the fonts from one gauge to another.

Yea, there's that speedo tach look thing too, why it might be easier just to find the whole panel if it wasn't to much. then in that is the odometer reading Hmm???

Well now, that sorta explains why i saw what i saw on the dyno, as Mike was taking it to 12 +. Add, he was also using his computer, so this makes sense.

I know what you mean there, but if you purchase another full gauge cluster, you can remove the LCD screen and circuit board and replace with the one from your bike. The LCD circuit board is only held in place with 6 screws so it can be changed out. I know this because we bought a parts bike, sorry but we used the gauge cluster already to repair my friends bike, and we just switched out the clusters and swapped the LCD from the parts bike to his and it worked perfectly.
