So I was at the Shell station today and thought it was a nice photo op with their "V-Power" logo in the background since we do have V-Power behind our fairings :congratulatory:

So now I'm thinking of getting these stickers for my VFR - I think they would fit on the very bottom of the fairing where some people put HONDA stickers - would they look cheesy or cool in your opinion? Place your vote!

I just have a hard time with this, but I say each to their own it's all good, ain't my bike. Now if they want to sponsor me by giving a discount or something along those lines, that be different. bad enough I'm paying for their product, I don't need to give em free advertising. Just saying.

So I'm guessing you're probably not a fan of the Repsol edition bikes then? Fair enough, it is a bit cheesy - which is why I posted the poll to see just how cheesy it is - lol. When I was searching the internet for the stickers I found an old contest from back in 2013 where the Shell stations were giving away V-Power stickers and if you were spotted by one of their roving contest people with the sticker on your vehicle they would give you $5,000 in gas - that would take it from cheesy to cool, eh? :peaceful:

It's cheesy if you just put the stickers on. It's cool if you cut away the Shell badging and just use the "V-POWER" part.

Yeah I was thinking about that possibility in case the stickers turn out to be too tall to fit down there with the shell.

There isn't one sticker on my bike or cars. If someone wants to pay me (a lot) to advertise for them, I might consider it. Otherwise, I don't have anything to say on my vehicles.

    Cheesy, very cheesy.

Can't really compare a Repsol branded bike here, thats a Honda corp thing, and yea to me it's meh. it's okay from a marketing perspective I guess, wonder what the pay back is? Hmm, is there even a Repsol distributorship here state side?

I know Repsol is a brand of European lubricants, but since I don't see it here in the States I don't really associate it with that. To me, it's more representative of Honda motorcycle racing. It's the only branding I've seen on HRC factory MotoGP bikes since I started watching motorcycle racing.

If you don't run shell V power why put the sticker on? If you are running that, then why? Bike is engineered to run 87.

I have a whole pile of stickers for products I do have on or in my bike and have them plastered all over my bike cabinet where I keep helmet, gloves, oil and all that other MC stuff.

I spent good money on the stickers I have. I would not want to take away form that. next paint job, I just may return to all white. I just about did not do the graphics on mine after I had it painted all white. I kinda liked the look of the bike all white with no badging. My badges are all gone too.

Repsol is a worldwide energy company based in Spain with holdings world wide. It's the oil biz.. The color combos, stickers, graphics, decals and anything else ya want except being able to ride like Haydn can be found in the net. Repsol/Honda goes back to 1995 and probably before with riders like Doohan. Hundreds of pix of "Repsol" sponsored bikes.

Probably a Repsol/Harley somewhere too. Another where the no pix rule should apply. (Harleyporn)

Wow - the tribe has spoken: 6 cheese votes to 0. No stickers for me - I guess in hindsight it was an extremely cheesy idea - lol.

Yeah I just brought up the REPSOL editions as the most egregious example of free oil company advertising on a Honda, but they do have additional intrinsic value I suppose to race fans. Personally I think they look great but you're right, AFAIK they don't have any presence in the USA.

    Shell already paid me.

Summer of '15, to drive a BMW M3 from NY to CA, part of a team doing a "Driver Relay". Certainly one of my best weeks, ever.

Still happy to promote the V-Power Nitro+ premium fuel.

Hey Randy, I usually run the 89 mid or the 93 high V-power in all my family's vehicles, including my VFR, never the 87 low - not sure why - just seems like the right thing to do but you're right it's probably a waste of money. I use Shell because it's the closest non 7-11 gas station to me and also my local grocery store has a killer deal where they sell $50 Shell gas cards for $40 when you buy over $50 of groceries, which is basically every time we go to the store - so I have about a dozen of the Shell gas cards saved up - lol.

BTW, where did you see 87 is the best? My owner's manual on p. 41 and 141 recommends "86 or higher".

I also noticed that on the same 2 pages of my owner's manual it says we have a 5.6 gallon tank, but on Honda's USA website it says it's 5.2 gallons - anybody know which one's right?

LOL empty it, then you'll know which one is right. Nothing like knowing first hand. Our Acura has a sticker in the fuel bay saying only to use premium. I know for a fact that super duper is best for our machines, just saying though use what ever floats your boat.

Yup. That was what I was getting at. Whether the higher octane causes any undue wear or stress on your engine or not I do not know. My point is that it was designed to operate on a cheaper fuel. Don't take my post as an Anti Shell position. I would be a hypocrite if I intended that because the vast majority of my fuel is Shell because of reward cards. Used to be that is. Shell's reward program in Canada sucks the big one. I now get most of my fuel from a Co-op I joined. They sell enough fuel that I am not concerned about stale fuel.

I remember two different gallons back when we we non metric here. The British Imperial Gallon was roughly 4.5 litres. The US Standard Gallon was roughly 3.8 litres. It was a bit of a head ache trying to figure out price comparisons. Now I read that there is a third gallon measurement in the USA. The is the US Dry gallon which is 4.4 litres.

The first two measurements might explain the discrepancies. I don't know.

I didn't get these figures off the top of my head. I had to look them up but I do remember the two different gallon sizes years ago.
