was thinking about my bike like we all do! We make changes to it to suit us. That's our love of the bike to make it our own to suit us as riders. But, this is more if you wanted to or had the money what would you do to the bike to make it "Yours" in a sense! Custom and one that stands out from all of us 8th Gen, One that we could identify as (x or y) in the group (custom color, add ones, modifications not thought of, etc.)

Here are my thoughts. I would re-spray the bike the Candy apple red of the 2010 1200. And may still do it if my Christmas bonus kick in (Please god!) I would add the power commander and have someone add the tail tidy that seems to evade me. I would get custom VFR 800 logos made (and not pay what Gatorgregg did on the Euro VFR logo;-)) and change the lower cowl to a different color (mine would be carbon fiber) like another of us did with black to make the bike stand out. I am interested in all of our thought of being happy with or would change things?

Apart from all the mods I've done (which I'd do again!)...

    Acrylic headlight protectors
    Front fork protectors
    Front mudguard extender
    Chrome indicator bulbs
Front brake & clutch levers adjustable span
Bagster tank cover with Honda badges
    R&G bar-end sliders
    R&G top radiator guard
    GPS tracker
    T-Rex crash protector sliders
R&G acrylic plugs for lower frame access holes
    Rear hugger
    Exhaust can
    Tutoro Deluxe 2 chain oiler
    Tail tidy
and over 350 stainless and titanium nuts, bolts, pins, etc.

I'd really like an RC30 paintjob a bit like this one.

Since I bought mine. I've added a few bit n pieces too excluding panniers and 45l top box.

    Fender extender,
    Scottoiler,
    Top radiator guard,
    Ventura shield.
    Finks accessory harness,
    Additional fuse box,
    Optimate charging lead,
    Cig socket lead,
    USB lead,
    Autocom,
    iPod music,
    Bluetooth module,
    Kenwood 3201 2way radio,
    External Ariel for above,
    Garmin zumo 590lm sat nav,
Ram mount and extension at front of tank.
Roadhawk ride bike powered camera. ( soon to be updated)

    Honda accessories,
    Tank pad,
    Akrapovic exhaust,
    Quick shifter
Rear hugger, all of which got cheap off eBay. Right place right time.

Like bubba I was also thinking of changing the colour of the bottom panel to black.
Maybe in the future update the suspension.

Apart from that I love her as she is.

The bike needs better quality, lighter wheels. Honda does not make light. quality finished wheels. Look at and pick up a BMW wheel if you want to understand better. I would get rid of the "Interceptor" badging. I guess I can do that but it doesn't mean that much to me. I would lower the pegs a little but it isn't important enough to me to just do it. It could use 20 more HP but, again, how fast do I really need to go when it is listed to go from zero to 100mph in 7.5 seconds (that's pretty quick) and the 8th gens. have a wider useable torque range than previous generations. I would lighten the bike up by 50# but it isn't practical to do it without sacrificing something from the way it is now. Lastly, the monster sized muffler needs to be replaced with something reasonable and that will happen soon.

Other than that, there isn't anything on the market that's a better value for how I use a bike and what I want from a bike. ; )

What I have done so far:
    factory tire hugger
    Shad top box
    Puig touring screen
    1.25 handle bar lifters
    Knight engineering lowered pegs
    factory panniers
    tank slider
steering post ram mount for the Garmin

that's about it - the bike now fits and rides the way I want it to.

Already done - Delkevic can, K&N filter.

In the future - Tail tidy.

That's it. I like it the way it is.

Can see what you are saying but the front wheel of the BMW cost nearly3 times that of the Vfr $1107 (r1200rt) against $468 Vfr.

If you really want to make that bike "Your's",: Pay off the loan.

Kind of hard to do that if you paid cash.

If you only buy a wheel. You get what you pay for. BMW's aren't as expensive as purported if one knows how to negotiate. They also run sales regularly if one has any patience. They make a damn good machine. The two I've owned were bullet proof and required nothing but scheduled preventive maintenance.

So true. There's no way I would take on debt to buy a motorcycle. Good god, they don't cost that much.

God is spelled with a capitol G.

I just figured anyone who is praying for the Christmas bonus, is either broke or named Grizwald.

Good stuff here. Let's see, my first mod was adding some hydroturf for the knees to grip. Then, the trunk, charger and the ram ball. After a multi day trip, decided I needed a windscreen. I think it's a givi sport. Added some dinky led aux lights on the forks too.

Next up is repadding and covering the seat. Then, probably crash protection. I'd love a prettier exhaust, but got this loan to pay off first.

Bit difficult for myself on choosing mods as I don't take delivery until tomorrow!

    So far I've ordered the "mandatory" items;

    - Tank pad
    - Rear tyre hugger
    - brake/clutch levers
    - R&G racing radiator guard
    - Motopumps 0.95 handle bar risers
    - genuine rear carry rack
    - 45 litre Honda top box in matching pearl white

After that, I'm thinking of changing the exhaust. This is my third bike I've owned and I've never changed the exhaust before. I figure the Honda V4 is the perfect candidate for my first slip on.

I've got at least 14 more years before I start winging! Haven't even bought a house yet! Plus, the viffer is a great agile daily driver for the frequent parking lot style highways here. Multi purpose, like my Leatherman.

One other thing I'm considering is a softer rear spring. It's pretty rough at any preload above fully backed out. But, idk if I'm doing it right. Definitely not a suspension expert.

What weight are you? Try turning damping out as well.

Never thought about messing with the rebound. Guess it couldn't hurt! I'm 160 lbf.

Keep adding to the list too, the bar risers always seem cool, but I do enjoy tucking into that pocket of still air on the nippier mornings.
