Hey all, I went solo for the first year of owning the bike. I was hoping that someone had a group ride planned or working on one? It would be good to meet a bunch of you.:eagerness:

Check every once in a while to see if AM is heading your way. Catch her if you can, and do your best to keep up. LOL

Seriously though, there has been a gathering each year at Reggies Roadhouse Roundup (R3) on the Memorial Day long weekend. Might be a good one to attend. Maybe check with member reg71 for more details.

Little early here, i mean it's 32 a rainingg and snow, last week highs in the 20s, don't think any good ole decent rides are in the works here for a while yet, give it another 3 months then we'll be getting all giddy. Bad enough going over ride route 5+ months out.

Don't wait for anyone to create a ride and hope to join in, create your own ride and ask others to join you! Although this is a great forum, I find that trying to get people together for a ride can be a little tough, even here in So Cal with our year round riding weather. Well, with the rain lately, even harder! Lol Regardless, post and/or check on the forum to see what's happening.

If you do post up a ride, I suggest that you give plenty of notice, details as to route, start time, meeting point(s) if the route covers a large area and any plans for rest and food stops. Also state what level of riding you are planning on doing, I.e. Slow novice pace, medium intermediate pace, or full on race pace! Eventually you'll find people that will meet up and ride with you and who knows, maybe create your own little riding crew.

    Chica Loca FTW, Duckie!

Good points by OOTV! By putting ride out there, especially for overnight stops, would be fun for others to know you are coming through... meet ups and/or lodging options and whatnot.

If anyone comes through KS, they'd have a place here...or the quickest escort out of DooDah.

I did come thru Kansas last summer on the way back from Florida. I was surprised at how nice the ride was and how friendly folks were. Yet another learning experience. Here's my VFR at a roadside stop.

I'm not a good planner, but your advice makes sense! I am really interested in RR3 if I can get the details of the ride from all of you.

I will be heading from Seattle to Denver at the beginning of June. I haven't really started planning yet. I have to be in Denver the first weekend of June then I'll wander around Utah the following week. with the intent of hitting Zion Nat. Park and the north side of the Grand Canyon. I'm planning in it being a solo ride but would certainly be interested in meeting and riding with others.

I've done that ride several times and early June is too early. Cold and rainy, even detouring through Nevada. Can you wait a month? Best wishes if you can't.

I was wondering about that, from the limited research I did it looked like it would be ok but we'll see I guess. I can't change the time of the trip I'm meeting a friend in Denver for the Roger Waters show. taking the bike was an after thought. thanks for the advice though.

I'm planning a trip to the Badlands and Yellowstone in mid/late-June! Maybe down to the salt flats if I make good time :)

Let me know the dates and see if I can join you. I have to plan vacation time in advance and it would be cool to get a few of us in my home state for a ride.

As RVFR pointed out, R3 is at the end of May, usually Memorial Day weekend. Most of "locals" ride up on Friday, some after work, others take the day off and we meet up at Reggie's and stake our claim on a sleeping spot. If you're lucky, you get a covered spot, inside the house or in the RV, otherwise you can claim a section for your tent on the back lawn.

While we wait for everyone to arrive, we throw back a few cold ones and sometimes chase em down with some of the hard stuff and we tell stories and drink some more. Then, if we're lucky, Reg breakouts some good grub and we chow down, drink, tell stories and maybe enjoy a game of Horse Shoes. Although the ride route(s) are typically planned ahead of time, some sort of discussion about what the best route to take on Saturday's ride will be. Sometimes we get a split decision and we actually have two rides, group A on one route and Group B on the other.

After the ride, we again meet up at Reggie's and throw back a few cold ones, drink the hard stuff, tell stories of our bravery and how we managed to make it back in one piece! Then, depending on how much $ is collected we have a nice BBQ feast! Note that Mrs. Reg puts up with a lot so we really have to be grateful she does as the side dishes that are prepared make the meal more than just a carnivore's feast!

Anyway, after Saturday's daytime and early evening activities, we have a raffle and hit the hay afterwards, hopefully not too inebriated and hope we wake up on Sunday ready for the ride home! Some have a easier ride than others, not because of distance but because of the fore mentioned night before! Some hang around Sunday and do a little more exploration of the local area and leave for home on Monday but usually the bulk of us are gone by Sunday evening.

Well, either I scared you off or enticed you even more to join us this year for R3!

Well off the ride in the rain again...

Google "Mexican hat to Bryce canyon"! That would be a great ride. Or look at Utah Scenic byway 12. I have done both and they are in the same area you want to ride in Utah. Also since I have not looked at and not ridden in this areas since 1998 when I was part of a group similar to this (1995 GPz 1100 owners)! look up road conditions. www.motorcycleroads.com is a good resource. But, when I did I was in love of Utah's scenic rides, and the roads should be better now than I experienced. Utah has a problem with low budget road repairs in rural areas "Road Snakes" but have been better in the last few years knowing that motorcyclist are in danger and are a good part of the visitor economy in these areas. Let me know.

There's one in the morning leaving from my house earlyish. I'm going to "twisty" all day long since the weather is supposed to be perfect.....65 degrees and dry. The group will just be me. Later this Spring, I plan to do a few days in W. NC and E. TN. I'll be camping in a motel somewhere, twistying during the day and sleeping all night then doing it again, and again, and again, then home a few miles away. I pick days when the forecast is dry and not freezing azz cold. Nobody is in the area that time of year. It's my annual "mind flush".
