Hi, so i have been on the forum a couple of days, its about time to start a thread on the bike i got about 2 weeks ago.
I got it from a freind who bought it as he just needed some parts of it. It had been trough an accident and was pretty banged up.

The plan is to restore it to "as new" condition. But without the original rear end. I am just going to use it as a daly bike to work. And i would like to get a fresher look aswell.
So i have ordered at Ducati 1198 rear end. The exhaust i will TIG my selv in stainless steel. And I am removing the front fairing and converting to a street figther. This i hope will make the bike look a bit more up to date.

As there is winter in Norway rigth now, I am using my good time and doing everything as good as i can. I spend a lot of hours at my work place, where i have all the equipment i need for the job !

But this wil be a "bugdet" build, i wont be spending to many $ or £ on expencive parts. Just try to keep it simple and restore what i can.

Here is the bike when i got it (I bought it as i stood in pic 1) , and the teardown at day 1..

Getting the frame and swing clean.

This took about 4-5 hours of cleaning and scrubbing.

Next was the Engine.. Sam thing 4-5 hours of intense scrubbing and cleaning.

Since i cant go home from work just yet, here are some more of whats done to day.
Glassblasted the calipers and brake parts. Washed and "sanded" down the radiator wich was black. And gave it a silver aluiminium color =)

Also the carbs got some serious cleaning, they looked like shaait ! Now they are nice and clean again..

I keep wanting to order new parts but i have to keep reminding me "budget bike, budget bike" :witless:

You can finance it all by selling that 8-spoke rear wheel!

nice work, I miss having access to the glass bead cabinet and ultra sonic cleaner, that swing arm and frame came out titz. Like that modified four corner brush that you made, keep up the good work/pictures very interested in the final result. Terrific bikes these are.

It is, but they are highly sought after for use on 4th, 5th and 6th gen VFRs as well as every streetfighter using a VFR swing arm.

    Ciao,

Well its over due for an update. Its ahs been som verry hectic weeks at work, as we have a new contract starting this month. So i will try to get an update every Thursday, as the MC club is open at wedensdays, and thats when i can do some work on the bike !

After i got the schoolgirl working here for some weeks to sandblast my rims, i got them sprayed with a black color, and topped it off with clear coat. Im am not happy with the results, but i have moved on any ways. If i change my mind, i will blast them again and have them powder coated.

Well as a bonus, here is an extra update, to show that i have not just been working =)

I made a new cooler expantion tank. And because i am childish and never will grow up mentally. I had to fill a childhood wish an make a fake NOS bottle. I got a alu flask, slapped some stickers on it, gave is some clear coat and welded up some old 10K fittings, and borred them up to make the holes a bit bigger =)

Got some more for you guys !

Got the weels mounted. I also got the sub frame and seat, but i need the fairings to start fitting it.
And for the exhast i was thinking about having it up in the rear end, but i am thinking of letting it go out under the bike with crossed cut ends. We will have to wait and see =)

I got some brakes from Ebay, just to test the discs. And just as I thought the discs needs replacing as well. So I have ordered new ones... One positive thing is that they look better then the originals =)

Ok time for an update again !

It has been chaos at work, so i havent had much time to work on the bike. But i have managed to get som work done !

The eletrical has been threaded by a new harness, not the ones i ordered but they will have to do..
And all the back end parts have now arrived, so it remains to do some minor adjusting to get the rear sub frame fittet. The fairings came with the "Ducati" logo wich was a little bummer. But I will have to come up with ime sticker solution.
I got a headlight from my brother in laws KTM EXC 350, witch i think fitted the bike good. Its a little out of shape,so if it wont look good resprayed i will get an new one =)

Anyways here are the pictures for saturdays night (I got an new phone now, so some pictures is lost, like threading the eletrical etc.)

I wish you were stateside as I have a great tail you could use. RC211V tail, so it has a place for center exhaust. The RC211V used one can on the right side kinda short, and one in the tail. It would look great.
