Does anyone in any generation have experience with wheel decals to add a touch without full out powder coating? If so, what is the life expectancy? let me know. I know that $30 bucks will only go so far with cleaning. Thank you for your comments in advance.

Maybe I am having a dumb or dumber moment but I am not totally sure what you are looking for. Are you looking complete coverage of the wheel or just something like a pinstrip? I seriously doubt you will find a sticker or decal or wrap that is capable of being manipulated to such a degree that it will come even close to covering the tight contours of a wheel. Mine was applied professionally yet it is cracking a little near the concave corners of the radiator vents on the fenders. Those contours and not as aggressive or compound as what you would run into trying to cover a wheel.

Maybe you might consider trying spray cans of Plastidip. If you don't like it, it will peel off fairly easy.

Used yellow rim stripes to accent my stock black wheels. Easy to apply and held up very well.
Removed them when I had the wheels powdercoated. Came off easy.

Paint works. Cleaning is another matter. If the wheels are really grungy try one of the concentrated degreasers. Don't waste your pesos on the premixed stuff in spray bottles with a bunch of names. A gallon of the concentrate is aboot 7-8 pesos at places like Wal*Mart. Another might be to get a couple of those valve stem gadgets with the LED and switching that relies on centripetal force.

Yes these are what I am looking to buy! The gold wheels need something and I cannot afford to powder coat right now. Any experience with this decal or difficulty in making them look good?

Yes, RVFR the wheels are great but the color in not for me. I need red or have them powder coated. For $20 I can have wheel stickers and be happy with an accent to them. I am wondering how hard it is to make them look decent. But, again I agree with the wheel, spokes just not the color on a red bike.

    Thanks, Mike D.

Another alternative for some color on the periphery of a bike wheel is paint. After the requisite dismounting and cleaning. Some masking and a 4oz can of "One Shot" will do the trick. For materials, an auto paint supplier is best. For how to, Utube has several vids showing "pinstriping."

3dcycle, I eventually will but I am cash short and other things. I can apply decals and next year do a powder coat I am hoping. Thanks.

This was my first bike and I still love those wheels. Nothing like the 80's

For another really cheap way buy a couple of packs of those band-aids for kids and some scissors. The wheels will still need cleaning. Wal*Mart might have some rolls of leftover Christmas ribbon that could be glued in place.

Those 500 Kawis had bad cranks as I recall were famous for spitting rods.

you could polish the lip on your wheels, the outer edge is a very nice machine surface. its a pita to do and keep clean but looks good, when clean kinda like a white wheel

I just got these off ebay. I paid 9.99 for them and free shipping. I will post pictures of them on the bike if the work well.

Thanks Badbilly, I will look into this if my last post doesn't work out!:triumphant: As far as the bad cranks I did not have an issue on mine. I only had it for 27,000 miles. I must have been lucky! loved that little bike and riding it in the early 90's when the CBR and the ninja's where the rage I got a lot of stops and questions about the bike. They called it retro then being a 82'
