    Opps I did it again - a long term project - NC24

After looking for a little while I managed to find this a couple of miles from my house at a price that made it worthwhile to me.

It runs but brakes & carbs seriously need working on. Havn't yet decided on the final outcome of this (if its for me or my wife) but I'm looking forward to it....lol

I've been watching a guy out in Hawaii work on one of these, he's changing it from carbs to fuel injection. Right now he's working on a do-it-yourself fuel injection throttle body setup.

    Thanks,
It was in dry storage for 16 years & only has 32,000km. I'm the 3rd owner. - its a 1987 NC24 imported into the UK in 94 & still go's pretty well - just needs a bit of love & TLC.

    it is ...
Just a few jobs for me to start on..

The brakes are truly aweful, & the carbs are out of balance, running very rich, it needs all fluids changed, & a good service done. It has potential.

    Thanks,

I'm going to try & get some pics of it this weekend before I start tearing it down... - if it stops raining !!!

It looks better from a distance (lol) & almost certainly needs a repaint... but until I pull the front brakes off to rebuild the master cylinder & calipers I'm not going to make any decisions over what I'm going to do about it.

This was bought as a cheapish project for me to practise on before getting a RC51, NC30 or another NC35.

Im now trying to get it looking like a 'more loved' bike hence looking to buy a blaster. (lol)

After a very quick wash on Saturday -before the weather forced me inside..

Last night, I managed to pick this one up Eastwood Soda / Sand Blaster for a steal, but have also realised that I need to get some other stuff for making my life easier.

So a few more tasks before use:

1 x set of overalls (Screwfix), - its going to be a messy job !

large piece of thick plastic sheet - so I don't spray the garden with soda,

get my Paint filtration installed (it likes dry air) - I have this system - http://www.graco.com/gb/en/products/finishing/desiccant-air-drying-system.html

plumb the hoses to my air compressor - may need some adaptors !

Well the stripdown has moved on a notch.

The front brakes & mastercylinder are now totally apart (have rebuild kits for them) - just pistons to remove then ready for blasting & paint,

[IMG]P1070103 by Pete Smith, on Flickr

all fairings removed (& dumped in kitchen - lol) - need to move to shed & wait for warmer weather before fixing some minor repairs

[IMG]P1070112 by Pete Smith, on Flickr

Front end is being slowly dismantled,
top fairing top mount off - really needs blast & paint

[IMG]P1070101 by Pete Smith, on Flickr

dash removed - may repaint ...

[IMG]P1070106 by Pete Smith, on Flickr

Bike is looking sorry for itself..

[IMG]P1070100 by Pete Smith, on Flickr

Next job pull the rear brake system entirely & strip it for rebuild & repaint.

Just waiting on a adaptor set for the Abba skylift so I can remove the NC35 as thats finished (for now - lol) & put the NC24 onto it...
