Not bagging on OP, eagerly clicked here, but how many times have we seen this exact scenario. Next comes the renderings on how it will look according to sources close to the project.

Maybe my 5 Gen sacrificed itself in order to make room for this....Hmm, then again, Captain 80's does make a good point!

Well, I heard 60 is the new 30! So that works in your time frame right?

I'm thinking it isn't a superbike "wing" on the back. I'm thinking they came up with a way to increase airflow so they can finally keep the fucking rectifiers from burning up.

Joking aside, I'd love to see a V4 superbike. Honda hasn't had much interesting outside of their crazy V4s and V5s on the GP track since the RC51 stopped production. No offense to the inline 4s -- the CBR600 and the R6 are both among the most amazing, rideable, trackable bikes I have ever ridden -- but I love to see bikes with different character. Good character, like the tractability you can get out of Vs that inlines don't always have.

I have to specify "good" because I started riding in the early 90s when people bitched that VFRs had no character. To them, "character" in a bike was what I thought of as handling problems or maintenance problems. I knew nobody with a GSXR in '94 who hadn't laid it down when the power came on, and the Ducatis of the day seemed to need valves checked twice for every time I changed tires. But, still, those bikes led to the modern era by making big leaps rather than tweaking the same formula everyone uses. I like that.

Now that I have the drawings, I can build my own and be hot shit at bike nights.

Yeah, I also hope the latest article OP posted is accurate but these types of articles about a V4 superbike with lovely renderings have been getting floated for quite a while, see below, so I'm afraid you and Nocalboy might be right. Funny that none of the earlier renderings have the rear "wing" :glee:

So IF it turns to reality, who's going to buy one and do what with it besides play on the track with it, which would be total fun. Totally not practical for the street if one uses the HP, if it's significantly high. Looks like it loses the SSA. Most people can't come close to using all the power the VFR has on a twisty road. It would be nice to have in the line-up but not too practical for how most people use their VFR's. No comparison between the bikes most likely. Sounds like more dreaming. VFR folks, including me, just like the V4 engine for a lot of reasons. Honda doesn't seem to be in that camp. We shall see.

Good show, I knew if I waited one of you Webb searchers would find a conceptual picture or two of the new V4 super bike.
The one problem I see happening is this bike will probably be great but unaffordable to the average biker
Like the days of the RC30

However, unlike back then, I actually have money and credit now! In the days of the RC30, I was in or just graduating High School!

This can be said of every damned liter bike out there, not to mention the bigger displacement jobbers. Hell, it can be said of a lowly 100 hp VFR, if you really want to get down to brass tacks, but especially modern bikes that can easily be made to put you between 150 and 200hp, which is ridiculous for 600lbs of vehicle and rider.

They're still fun with half throttle. People still look at them. I still like going around corners when I haven't dragged a knee on the street... ever.
