My chain is getting a bit slack, the owners manual as usual says take it to your dealer

Has anyone done their own and anything I should look out for?

I've done my 8th gen. once in 8500 miles and my previous 5th and 6th gens. many times. It's easy peasy. Just loosen the cam locking nut and use the spanner wrench to turn the rear cam to tighten the chain to your liking. Then, WITH A TORQUE WRENCH, tighten the locking nut to spec. I run my chains looser than recommended. That's it. I can see absolutely no reason to take your bike to a dealer for this. It's probably the easiest thing there is to do to a VFR.

P83,83,84. Tells you how to adjust the chain. The earlier reference to taking it to a dealer is in relation to damaged sprockets, tight links not adjusting .

Thank you guys .... just checking before I started ...

    PS

It was a breeze, worth mentioning that you rotate the adjuster forward to take up slack
