The other night was not freezing so I wheeled out the bike to warm it up
The issue was the bike was not getting power to the starter or gauges when the key was turned on
I started messing around with it and found that by turning the handle bars I could make the gauge lights power up and after looking at the wiring coming out from the ignition switch I am putting money on a broken wire somewhere in the ignition switch connector wiring
What is the easiest way to get at the igntion switch assembly?
I found a thread where they removed the top triple clamp but since I have most of the body panels off I was thinking of removing the gauge fairing and getting at the ignition switch that way
I am at the point where I can remove the gauge fairing but found there are two almost hidden screws holding the fairing at the front of the gauges
Has anyone found the correct phillip,s screwdriver for removing these screws?
attached shows the two screws and their location

Somtimes I wish I could meet the ass engineer that thought phillips screws that are 90% hidden on a bike was a good idea
Am I thinking this is, the best way to access the igntion switch?

Now we are talking, I went to my local Canadian Tire ( Crappy Tire to most ) and bought an offset set but the offset was just too long to work. I am starting to wonder how others were able to remove the fairing on these earlier models

I'm not familiar with the bike you have, but I tried removing mine on my 6th generation and found out removing the upper clamp saved me a lot of time and effort.

They are not typical allens ar star points but a security bolt head. The switch is nla from honda so you will have to break the plastic cover to access the contacts & hope for the best

I've got a similar issue, but it seems that turning the key counter clockwise just a bit, gets electricity going.

So for me it's a worn ignition switch. It's weird it works just fine after the engine starts. So I have not started tinkering with it... yet.
