Is my bike running hot? 87 vfr700f2

    New bike for me... about 1 hour of riding and stuck in traffic it will show 3/4th of the way up on the Gage of temp... is this normal?

    Normal. Just make sure your fan is working. Let it idle in the driveway, your fan should kick on just above 3/4.

    A lot of VFR owners install a parallel toggle switch to manually turn on the fan in traffic but still allow the thermoswitch to do the job if needed. All of mine have a toggle.

    ANYTHING over 3/4 scale is cause for concern. Coolant needs to be changed every 2-3 years for best results keeping rust and scale away. Overheating is guaranteed if the radiator cap goes bad.

    As long as your bike is moving forward so air is flowing past the radiator, normal operating temp on a 68-degree day would be just above 1/2 way.
