So after 28 years of VFR ownership and 5 bikes, and due to a (gravity-related) mishap, i finally need to remove a cylinder head on an '86/700 AND CAN'T FIND a new head gasket here in USA, and shipping from Europe seems to be around $35! :bs:

Any help locating an OEM or aftermarket gasket set, please ?

Engine is already up on a bench, cams off, and i'm ready to rock !

you might want to check with the folks at Cometic in Ohio. They have many gaskets that are not in their catalog or website. Regards, Chase

I called Cometic ,because I have that kind of time, and they do not list anything older than the RC30. The very helpful tech I talked to said they would gladly make it if you want but the Ebay ones may be just a bit cheaper when it is all set and done. I a can PM the email info to you if you want to send him a picture.

Thanks to all for the help. :eagerness:

Getting the cylinder heads off was really easy, but you MUST use a 6-point, 1/2" drive, 12mm socket on a long breaker bar to remove the head bolts.

They should be there next week, Squirrel. It was only about $7.00 between the envelope and the postage. Hope you can get that thing back together soon.

^^^ You're the best, the only OEM set i could find within the USA, and now i can finish up a project that's dragged on for over a year.

Expect a check to you soon, and thanks for the help getting my 1986 700 #1113 back on the road after a 12 year layoff.
