I installed Oxford heated grips to my 8 gen. Using the oem controller and a separate momentary button. The heaters work normally. I tested them with the key on, ignition switch off. Didn't want to keep priming the fuel pump each test. Went to actually turn the bike on, no fuel pump. Turns out the horn fuse was popped. Wiring diagram has the horn fuse going to the ignition switch, relays as well. I get continuity from the inside of one contact of the horn switch and ground. Gonna pull all the left plastics off again tomorrow after work to continue to trace. In the mean time, any ideas or advice?
Not sure if this will be applicable to the 8th gen, but if the brake lever is rotated too far down the brake switch contacts can short out on the bar and take out the fuse. That's a quick one to eliminate at least.
Yes! I forgot all about that! Easy fix. Knew my wiring was good all along, lol. Put in 5 amp (ran out of everything else) and went to get more 10s.
