    Hey All

I wonder if any of you smart bunch can help me out.

I have a 2009 800 6th GEN and I was just in the middle of replacing the chain and sprockets and whilst tightening the rear sprocket nuts, one of them has rounded/stripped the BOLT.

I need to replace it but the head of the nut seems to be round and I am unable to remove it?? I have given it a few reasonable taps with a hammer to no avail. Before I go a bit chuck Norris on it I thought I would see of there is a trick to it?

Also, if anyone happens to know when to find some standard replacements they would be great (uk based) ebay only seems to have some aftermark fancy titanium stuff.

    Thanks for any help.

Is the bolt and nut combination tight?
If so, you may be able to cut the nut by using a sharp chisel.
If not, the other option is to cut the nut with a tool designed to do just that. Works in the same way as a chain breaker.

By the way, a big welcome to VFRWorld!

    Thanks :)

I don't think I explained it well. So I got all 6 nuts off, got the old sprocket off, put the new one on, put one nut on fine, second nut just stripped the bolt :(

So I have got the nut off but I need to replace the bolt. On older viffs it seems they are standard bolts that can be easily replaced. On mine it appears stuck to the bike. Chiselling is an option if it's just stiff?

    Thanks for your reply

OK, so the bolt head is round from the factory.
It also appears to be held in place by the nut only.
If this is true, then it will come out simply by hitting it toward the brake disc.

I don't know what year your VFR is, however, that's what the fifth gen looks like.
If you have the service manual, it may give you a better idea of how the bolt is held in place.
The SM for my 89 showed the above information would be correct.
